When I was playing Terraria, mining strictly with dynamite, I noticed something. I only get killed by the blast wave, when I should totally get shredded by flying debris propelled by the dynamite at 20m, where as I normally stand just next to the end of the blast wave. Why not have a mechanism where, depending on whats getting blown up, you get hit with shrapnel. burning, radioactive, or sparking bits of materials go and cause you damage out side the immediate blast wave and reduces the damage the farther you are from it. another fun thing is that you could jump into some water or other fluid and gain some protection from the shrapnel, whilst in a vacuum, you might as well stay out of line of sight from the explosion. Just a thought that caught my fancy.
I think this would be cool, the only problem is it would make mining with explosives probably a lot less popular because you never know if you're going to die. On the other hand it does add some unpredictability to explosives that would be a lot of fun.
They could also add in pressure waves, or increased blast wave power at short ranges, you know , like how water and explosions normally behave. And who doesn't love burning debris, causing fire and what not like it isn't a thing.
I can almost imagine: in PVP, someone quickly build a 4x4 block of crystal with explosive charges inside, hide inside a hole in the ground and BLAM! Cortex Command Effect here we goooooooo!
Now imagine if we but explosives in containers, that just happen to have random stuff, and could set it off. Imagine that calamity of having all your buckets of lava hurled around a room.
I'm personally hoping for a dark matter cannon, which is powered by the crystals you can only find deep underground on a crystal-like planet, and when you fully charge it, the projectile implodes, pulling nearby blocks/enemies into it, and eventually exploding, shooting it all back out
Just edit don't double post. I'm hoping this idea is being implemented as we speak, it sounds more amazing the more I think about it
