Exactly. Try to add some "ponds" beneath the whole dock, if it is too high above ground (which seems to be the case on an ocean planet ). And "the base" of the crane looks too weak to hold the massive weight of it. You can make the "legs" 2 blocks wide to make it look stronger. The 2 supports outlining that it is not centered don't help "a massive look" either (just remove them). Try out girders to improve the "industrial construction look". Especially the "arm" of the crane could benefit greatly from girders, but it already looks good as is. Trying to explain it a little better: The "mass distribution" looks wrong. The crane itself looks very massive, but the construction to hold all it's weight looks too thin = too weak. Hope this helps to find the style you're looking for.
Well since a power outage corrupted my universe folder I found myself having to start my colony from scratch. I did at least have a screenshot of my main house to fall back on so the core structure's basically the same with some alterations based on changes to my style since I started. I also considered what to do with my larger bridges since rather than a means of travel between islands they always felt like wasted space before. So I tried building something like an Arcology above one, I think I'll keep it. I get the feeling I should probably add some more support beneath the bridge though.
Tonight on the latest hit sitcom "4 Plants and a Fish..." guest starring Chiaki McCool as Mr. Friendzone!
File not found error, please try again... Or so to say: Sorry I'm not an native english speaker, so I couldn't understand what you mean. ^^
He meant the items that make npcs spawn in houses. From the picture the other user posted. And I would guess they are from some mod, since there is many mod furniture
I think i'd like to replace a good chunk of the glass with metal. Glass doesn't give the sense of "this is a huge space station", yet i do love the starry sky...
So, after removing my Universe folder to start a new universe while keeping my old character, I started next to a mountain. So, I built a small wood shack over the spawn point, then dug into the mountain to add a room with bed, teleporter, crafting stuff etc. And then I decided to make the place bigger so I could have lots of storage space... then dug down and added apartments... then got carried away. Everything is wood, wooden, or wood-related, up to and including pilfered-and-printed wooden bookcases. The forest has been chopped down and replanted hundreds of times but the infrastructure is finally complete. Yay renewable resources. I still need to acquire 60 more oil lanterns to light the place up (currently using torches toward the left side of the structure) make 16 wooden doors, and then figure out where I'm putting stuff and what sorts of stuff. Apartments aside, the place is unfurnished.
I totally got great idea from this creation, i gonna build that on fiery planet, where can't be any meteor rains and strikes.
Found a large hole with a miniboss trapped inside of it. I built the rest. Btw, I didn't build that house. In case you were wondering.
Just make sure the weather doesn't call for meteor strikes, asteroid strikes, or flaming ashes. Nothing like having your flammable wood blocks destroyed by the local weather.
I've noticed I tend to build towns rather than houses. I like bricks if you can't tell Edit: expanded the underground portion and added some more apartments
