Should we Worry?

They AREN'T. Yet again, people are taking rumors and flying with them. Edge of Space is done in a custom built Unity engine. Absolutely nothing to do with Terraria, just as Starbound has nothing to do with Terraria. Don't forget that people say Tiy is using Terraria's source code to. Hurr hurr. Every game to come out from now on is "using Terraria's source code"

 

Terraria is written is C# XNA, Starbound is written is C++. They aren't even the same language...

 

They were accusing Edge of Space of being made with Terraria's source code, but yeah, neither Starbound, NOR Edge of Space is doing any such thing, its just idiocy. XP

 

Drama, wild speculation and insinuating conjecture turns some folks cranks WAY the hell up.

Terraira gained massive numbers of people from youtube.
Chances are, If people put out terraria, they'll put out starbound.

 

It appears that Starbound now has a legitimate competitor. I'm not going to law, edge of space looks promising as well

Law wise I don't think a game can be stopped due to copying unless graphics/code/name are exactly the same, not if they look alike. Bit like saying CoD could sure Battlefield or vise verse. I personally believe that Starbound looks better in design. I don't like how Edge of Space is a bit "cartoony" I guess in how the graphics aren't really pixel art they're just slightly bad xD

 

Sincerely i dont think starbound will reach the mark of 1 MIRRION TWOOPS million copies sold, but steam helps i think...

 

Meh, Edge of Space looks like Terraria with a space texture pack or something, Starbound will be better for sure.

i'll play whatever sounds nice and im keeping my expectations low, so i'll most likely be blown away either way

 

I'm not really concerned. In a sick way, I'm hoping this game doesn't get tons of publicity. As with any game, there's gonna be trolls, griefers, and idiots alike, but the more we advertise the game, the more we will attract. If people lay on the low side and don't constantly spew junk about the game, the 'brighter' players will come find us, rather than having to be corralled in with 'undesirables'. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I've always managed to find the worst eleven-year-olds on the planet plague good games.

 

I heard about this game through friends and I've told a few friends, that way only decent players will play =)

 

Eh, to be honest that other game doesn't look anywhere near as appealing.

 

making assumptions about sales wont get us anywhere. the video game market is completely uncomprehensible.
may i remind you of a poorly programmed, bad looking clone with no story and no consistent development direction that sold several million times even before it got released?

 

Starbound has had more publicity than EoS, thus will sell better most likely. With the community it already has, Starbound is going to sell thousands in the first 24 hours.

Yeah From what I know about each Soulbound's ideas seem a lot better then edge of space, I also prefer the art style used in Soulbound
