Yes. I just personally would find it sad if the game got stuff into it that would outright be called "magic".
(unless it would be single glitch encounters, worshipping a plasma pistol, that would be hilarious if they called that magic :D)

A lot of RPG games (yes I know Starbound is not really an RPG, or at least not an RPG with XP points etc) typically have three base classes, Warriors, Mages and Rogues. The warriors are the melee users, the mages are magic users, and the rogues are usually bow/gun users. We already have two of three, so I wouldn't mind a "magic" type class that would fill that role, but magic may be the incorrect theme to use. Since its sci fi, we could have things like implants that give powers (like The Force) or geneticallly enhancing chemicals, etc. As long as you stay away fom the medevial aspect of wands, staves, staffs, and magic books etc. Its pretty much magic, but at least there would be a scientific explanation for it.

Also I wouldn't really count "swords that shoot elements" as magic. Techincally it is, but gameplay wise it still falls within the melee class.

It's not even its own flavor. Enchanted weapons, dragons, conjuring lightning from nowhere, and fire, and bubbles (that physically hurt things)... This is all textbook "Magic in RPGs 101" stuff.

It has so much of that stuff already, I have a hard time understanding what OP is asking for. There's a "tech" (read: spell) in that lets you float on butterflies. BUTTERFLIES.

What exactly is left? Infact, I want a mod that removes the magic from this game.

I guess what he wants, is oldschool spellbooks, potions, wands, etc.

I have two of these items: [IMG]

Makes me believe that there already is magic in the game, or possibly it's planned for a future update. Either way, i just wear it on my characters back and have no idea what it does.

Magic is just another name for something we haven't science'd.
In fact, you could say science is magic explained.
In a way, we already have magic... in our hearts.

You and me both. I'f I'd known there was going to be so much fantasy in my Sci-Fi planet hopping sandbox, I'd have gotten Terria.

Actually, what we're lacking is a dedicated "rogue" class. Guns ARE our "magic", because they tend to be mid-to-long range attacks that are powerful against every other flavor of combat, but as a drawback require a limited resource to use- in this case, our "mana" is energy. I would daresay that our guns are "magic missile launchers". The element of the rogue is more blended into the other two, I'd say, given you tend to not facetank damage like a warrior no matter what you're doing, and you can just as viably be a rogue-type by teching around enemies and stabbing them in the tookus or something.

You're only limited by your playstyle and your imagination as is. Which once again makes me wonder what the OP wants, since again, gun that shoots clouds of lightning and is powered by my energy as ammo.
