Should there be a Pre-order?

I really don't know why people want a "bonus" for pre-ordering the game. It's no different from buying the game down later, unless you pay more. I only pre-order games when it's for a retail game that might be sold out at launch.

 

i dont either, you would think being guaranteed the game at release would be enough to make someone want to pre-order a game.

 

I think it would be cool to have some sort of vanity set, like a penguin mascot suit or something lol.

 

Yea, the greed of some gamers these days is atrocious.
I do like the idea of some kind of Vanity Item, however. Like a special hat or something.

 

There needs to be a pre-order and I better get exclusive content like game-breaking and overpowered weapons and gear. Also, early access and exclusive jetpacks that those baddie CASUALS who don't pre-order can't get.

I don't think a pre-order bonus is a bad idea. Honestly, I don't see how it would HURT the development or promotion of the game at all. Like giving those who pre-order a couple of extra items at start to get them started a little faster or easier. If you didn't want them, then you could just sell them for extra cash. Even some sort of commemorative item would be nifty. It doesn't have to be anything big, just an extra incentive from the dev. team to show their appreciation. Of course, I'm not saying they aren't appreciative of our support already.

 

I myself like the idea of a Pre-order, just because i can be sure i get the game to install as soon as its out. And regarding bonusses in pre-orders, i guess it should be restricted to a few (exclusive?) vanity items.

I would love to be able to preorder. An ingame bonus isn't needed and not wished. To get my hands earlier on the game would be enough bonus for me. I see preorder just as early ownership and that's all. If it's a beta we get to play earlier or still have to wait till offical full release doesn't matter to me.

For me the only prerequisit would be a steam preorder because i buy 99% on Steam.

So long as the in-game reward is something small or mostly irrelevant to the game-play, such as a skin or something, I see no problem with it. Who cares if people can't get it later if it has no affect on gameplay? Its a small thank you for pre-ordering... a lot of games do similar things.
