Should there be a Pre-order?

I would like a preorder just for the fact that I won't have to remember buying it later and saving money until then.

 

Or a bonus ingame vanity shirt with "Starbound Slave" written all over it

 

Though I wouldn't mind a pre-order, I think this is more about if they NEED our money earlier or not. Who knows, they might make it just fine without our help. But whatever the case, I'd definitely throw money at my screen for the sake of not having to remember to buy it on the release-date. *lazylazylazy*
As for bonuses, I think it's fine as long as it doesn't affect your actual gameplay. A silly tophat that does nothing except making me look more classy and fancy? Anytime! But a weapon with better stats than what I can get my hands on at my current level? No thanks. That just ruins the game experience for me.

On a sidenote, I definitely wouldn't mind that tophat....or maybe getting a keychain in the mail? My POINT is that I want something that proves "HAH! I pre-ordered this game like a baus and you didn't! *rubs into face*"

 

If there is a pre-order, I would hope that you can pre-load the game before it is actually released (if steam is going to be the way of distributing it). My download rate is horrid, and it's fun to stay up really late the night before the release and play it as soon as it's ready and released.

 

Pre-Order would be amazing, in my honest opinion. And, if there was a bonus, I would have to say, maybe a vanity item in-game that has something to do with a star. I'm not sure.

 

Oh i sure would love a preorder bonus! It would be nice to get some wallpapers for your space station or an in-game stack of like 60 sticky notes to stick to everything in your station! Yesss, the power of sticky notes!

Minor things like that are all great little preorder items that would note a servers owner preordered the game. Would just be cool all around to have. They arent game breaking or huge at all and are little things that just make your stuff stand out just a little.

 

I would love it if there was a pre-order and they gave you the soundtrack for free, that would be dope.

 

Oh yes, the soundtrack. That... i cant find a good thread on the music for this game. That lighting demo had such wonderful music playing.....

 

i am really chomping at the bit to get at this game already, honestly, if there were no bonuses or incentives to pre-ordering, I'm still there. They actually could probably penalize me for pre-ordering the game and i wouldn't care.

Well, prereleases would probably not come with special perks, but just as people says, some of us are lazy, and would prefer to pay it before hand so we don't forget about it afterwards.

 

If a preorder happens give it no special stuff and relese it on steam. Its simple

 

pre order should come with 5 mechs, a hoverbike, a large drill tool, a map of all planets explored with a full catalogue on flora/ fauna for each planet.YEAH!

 

Thats a little much for a pre-order.
How bout 1 mech, a hoverbike, a medium drill tool (large too op), and the map is fine.

 

I think it would be nice if there was some kind of pre-order, maybe even only a month to just a couple weeks before release.
I don't think there should be anything that comes with pre-ordering though. I don't like when certain people get exclusive things, especially if others miss the "event"/pre-order and aren't able to get it any other way.

 

I like "a couple weeks" next to "one to a few months"

 

Especially since we are about "one to a few months" away from the game's release! But I would still prefer a way for me to pay the game, and not having to remember that fact until it comes out.
