Taken far enough that would actually explain a lot of things :D
13SithDeceiver13: Yog-Sothoth, that thing is creepy...

I hope you're not implying that Yog-Sothoth originated from a creepypasta...

I would not dare to imply such a preposterous idea :p

I'm sorry? I'm unfamiliar with this creature.

I was using Yog-Sothoth in the sentence in a way some people start it with "Oh God" or "Jesus Christ". Just a modified figure of speech.

I think we can do without the generic uncreative by the thousands that most will never even know existed, i mean seriously anyone and i do mean anyone can make a crappypasta. and yes that's what i call creepypastas.

This is life. There are good mixed with the bad. There will be great creepypastas and terrible ones. People will write whether you want them to or not.

I see no reason to make a creepypasta simply to have one.

If you genuinely have inspiration, and think you can genuinely write Starbound-based horror, knock yourself out. But if you just make it simply so it's made, it's going to be garbage, it's going to stink like garbage, and it's going to reflect badly on people's impressions of you, just like being covered in garbage would.

Actually yes, if you imply Cthulhu mythos are creepypasta. Which they're not.

Anyways, I suggest we should have a some sort of competition for who would write a best Starbound creepypasta... or something!

That's a good idea, but i dont really voting for it. i just hate creepy stuff for games, ruins the idea of the main reason we are playing.

Why are myths being referred to as ''Creepy Pasta?" Sounds like just another shitty internet-kid theme. Memes are fine.. but this? What was wrong with the word, "Myth?"

Because "myth" implies it came about unintentionally, rather than "creepypastas" which are intentionally written on the internet? Specific definition. Just because you don't like that definition (or the word itself), doesn't mean the people using it are "kids" (seriously, I question who is really being childish when people use "kid" as a derogatory term).

Ok, Cpt'Butthurt. I used "kid" as a derogatory term towards those who are immature; not to belittle legitimate children. It's a word we've always used to insinuate immaturity online. Regardless, my actual question was where did the term, ''Creepy Pasta'' come from?

(And yes, I do see the irony of me calling others immature.)

Creepypastas are a horror variation of the term copypasta.

Copypasta is internet slang for any block of text that gets copied and pasted over and over again, typically disseminated by individuals through online discussion forums and social networking sites. Although it shares some characteristics with spam in the sense they’re both unsolicited (and often considered a nuisance), copypastas are mainly spread through human operators whereas the latter is automatically generated by electronic messaging systems.

Creepypastas have slightly lost their original meaning, and are now "any scary story on the internet".

OH! I see.. Copy Pasta means it's been stretched thin.. Damn I'm slow..
Thank you. Still feels like a strange leap from myth to horror.

Yes. If I make one (or someone else does) I hope it will be because they genuinely feel they can take some creepy element from the game or the lore and expand on it in a way that makes it a nice spooky story.

Most stuff besides things that actually add content to game (mods, Texture Packs, suggestions, etc) don't really add anything to the game (creepypastas, memes, fanfics, etc). X3

If someone creates a Starbound pasta, hopefully it won't be like every other generic video game creepypasta.
