Should I play the beta?

If the beta comes out during August then I'm not sure if I will be playing it because Splinter Cell blacklist comes out that month, follow by GTA V on September. So I hope they release the beta at least on July, but if you don't have anything else to play they I would say to play the beta.

This kind of back and forth stuff over a minor thing can very quickly derail a thread. Any requests to other users about typing styles or grammar corrections should be in private messages.

No, don't play the beta. The wait for the full release will be worse than it is now.

Also (And Im Not Saying This To Try To Sound Like Some One Who Thinks They Deserve Beta) You Can Try To Find Bugs And Such. But We All Know Your Going To Be Too Damn Addicted.

Yes in my opinion. Even though at the end of the day it's your decision to make.

    Welcome!
I can certainly understand your dilemma and found myself thinking the same thing the other day. Personally, I don't think I could stop myself from playing the Beta once it's out. I'm simply too exicted about Starbound. There is some information that may help you though: They will be adding a ton of content during the first year after release (and lesser amounts thereafter). If you were to not play the beta and wait for the release you would essentially be in the same situation as if you went ahead and played the beta---one were new content is constantly being added. Though there will be more bugs during the beta, it seems to me like it's not that different from the full release date and that you could simply consider yourself in store for more updates than you would if you waited for the release.

Players that can wait through the beta should receive a million dollars a badge. Who has that kind of self control? This game will be a drug and none shall withstand its wrath.

I have this kind of self control. Found it in the beta of other games.

So what you're telling me is that Beta is a uranium bomb and the full release is a hydrogen bomb?

  12. Baradrim

    Baradrim Big Damn Hero

Kind of. Still, it's not a good idea to compare that to a bomb. Beta is more of a Ferrari that was used for a year, and full release is a tip-top, new one.

Anyway, with Half-Life 2 references behind us, If you really want to play it then do so. I am, mainly because I may help find bugs to report and blah, blah, blah.
ANYWAY, Just do what you feel is right, after-all, the wrong man in the right place can make all the difference...
    He-he-he-he...
I just had to make another one...

You will play the beta. You're new here, but after a few weeks, the fever will start kicking in. You will want to play starbound so bad that you'll be ripping your own eyeballs out.

He means that when beta is released it's supposed to be the final product, minus the main story (and probably some other heavily triggered content) and will have bugs (as that is the point of most betas, to hunt bugs.)
