I'm basically finish al the main quest, it's not many things to do now, I'm just install a explorerpod mod to drive around, pretty easy thing because walking is just killing me, so! Should I?

It's meant to be downloaded at the beginning of a new character (some early crafting recipes were changed, new ores, etc), but it works at end-game too.

And only download it if you are 100% certain you are keeping it. Backups wont work, as you will still crash from some parts of the mod that remain in the vanilla version.

If you want to install it I recommend backing up your player and universe folders. That way when you install frackin universe it'll be a fresh install and if you want to go back to your old universe you can just switch out the player and universe files with your old ones, not to mention to also disable the mod.

    like stealth said

    back up your stuff first

also i reccomend completing the storyline first

fracking universe randomizes worlds so much that the quests to scan items are almost completely impossible

finding the correct town or dungeon to get your scans is entirely up to luck instead of them being on specific planets

which is how it should be :\

but its much harder to find things that way

I did and am at the beginning of the game. I love the extra biomes. I just wish it didn't come with extra crafting stuff, logistics/inventory is becoming a nightmare.

A small tip. the extra biomes (and extra ores/resources at those biomes) only generate at solar systems which didn't load on your star map.
BUT. If you delete your universe folder in the storage folder the whole universe is generated from scratch so then the whole universe has the new biomes.
You will lose all buildings, farms, items at planets, etc. etc. But keep your mission progress, ship, items at ship, crew, etc.

I only encountered some missions I had previously done not registering at the outpost (shops didn't open) but some admin console commands fixed that.

I use it to play with a friend, but prefer to go mostly vanilla on my own terms. So I set up two clients.

Problem is, I'm not always the brightest and splitting the game into two and launching via steam causes some odd bugs.

This is why I never installed it. I love a lot of the ideas in it but I don't want to have to deal with the extra crafting materials.

The mod provides you with Gene Storage and Food Locker chests that provide 128 slots each. Inventory management isn't as difficult as if you had to deal with multiple 24 slot chests. You just build two Gene Storage lockers, name one Metals and Minerals, and the other Organics and Genes using the Improved Containers mod, and you're mostly sorted out on storage. There are a lot of materials, but I've basically crafted almost one of every type of bar and crafting component available and I still have roughly 20 slots left in my Metals chest. You could also install the Transmission beacon mod which autosorts any items you put in a chest and teleports them to the correct chest. Frackin Universe bascially gives you a reason to make a planetside base, and I'm honestly really happy about it. It's nearing the completion of its remodeling, and it fits basically everything I have from Frackin Universe perfectly.

What the guy above me said. Make 4 Gene Storage chests, stack them on top of each other, put the station/armor/clothing crafting stations around them, and you've got a good centerpiece for your lab. Just dump everything in those lockers (minus actual "blocks", just extract those).

I should clarify that my issue is less storage of the new materials and more the fact that I'd have to collect and craft with them on top of all the vanilla stuff and that seems like a hassle to me.

I just want to chill and wander around cool planets.

The only things you really NEED to build from Frackin Universe is probably the Matter Assembler, Armory (if you want the S-Pack for the glow), and Nanoforge. As long as you have the nanoforge you could just construct the needed Augments to survive on the planets, they're not particularly resource intensive. You could just craft a few S-Packs or Various EPPs and just slot an augment into them and trade out between planets. Just have one with the Rebreather, one with Cold protection, one with Heat protection, and one with Radiation protection. You should be able to visit almost every planet without having to deal with all the other ores. Though if you wanted to experience the Shoggoth dungeon you're going to have to actually do the Science outpost quests and craft a bunch.

Then /spawnitem your protection items and armor, and wander away. You won't much that way though, because the new chests containing themed stuff are quite rare in my experience.

I love a big progression tree, grind stuff to make weapons and armor powerful enough to take on the next boss, then do it again because what you've made gets rekt by the next one. Sadly, I haven't found any real bosses, just micro-bosses that don't take much to kill...

Well, you could do it for the variety and such, but FU seems to love suffocating you with tons and tons of more content that a lot of it in some people's opinions is unnecessary due to how complex it can get.

... I personally only like the mod pretty much for it's biomes, I don't care all TOO Much for everything else {except when even biomes that were from past builds were altered...} except when i'm forced to interact with the rest because of FU-specific status effects. ... Plus I overall don't care for the general attitude the thread of FU has.. and yes that somewhat also plays in to how I experience the mod, but that's just me.

I really like it. I have to agree it makes the game more branched out and complex, adding so much content and crafting which becomes overwhelming. It's a great mod, I would suggest it to anyone who would like to extend their gameplay.

It does make sense if you have a lot of different planets, there being a lot of different ores and other resources.
I have installed a name storage mod which helps. Now I need a mod to craft from storage or an inventory increase mod..

I have not yet encountered gene storage lockers.. Where do you get those?I'm still using 24 stackable large container and 32 slot storage chest.. it's becoming a problem.

I was unaware you could name containers with the fracking universe mod, (??) I installed a mod to specifically do that.

This station, This tab, These recipes. Locker is 4 high 2 wide, don't know if it stacks; Chest is 2 high 3 wide, and stacks. They cost basically nothing, the only downside is they have no sorting, but with 128 slots each, it doesn't matter really.

The Dimensional Storage thing is just a 200 slot locker type thing, not really worth the bizzare ingredients it takes to make.

Deleting the universe folder sometimes resets the outpost so that you have to do the erchius mission via SAIL to regain some outpost shops.

Yes happened to me. All missions in my journal were completed but outpost store and that penguin bar were closed. I just entered some admin console commands to unlock them.
