By that, I more mean if I should get hyped up at the fact that I may be let down like almost every other game I've waited on has put me to. This company seems to be better than your average AAA gaming company, but at the same time, it's hard to want to get hyped when 90% of the games I've been hyped for have turned out to either be worse than it was hyped up to be, or just complete trash compared to its predecessors (I'm talking about YOU, Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi!).

As a side note, are you hyped for this game? I'll make a poll. Pleas leave your opinions below. :D

Edit: I accidentally pressed enter before I could add the other options, completely disregard the poll. :/ I meant to add another option that was "No." or something along those lines.

I don't like getting hyped for things that aren't coming out in the immediate future. I am excited for Starbound but I'm not hyped.

It's too stressful constantly being on edge like that for me. I got college for that, man.

You've come to the wrong place, we're VERY biased.

I think you should be hyped, the devs have been incredibly open about the game, there's not much to be surprised about. I think the game will be horrendously addictive.

I am excited not hyped. Also had a good read on why I should avoid getting too hyped till almost game time.

No, don't get hyped. This game will be great, but trust me when I say that the hype makes it harder to wait for :p

Just keep your head in the sand until you see a news update somewhere about it being released, then play it and be amazed.

Hyped? - Not so much now after waiting for so long
Excited? - Pretty excited I'd say, especially with the info from the frequent updates. :D
Body ready? - Oh yes it is! :viking:

Be excited. Look forward to playing when it is released. Hype tends to lead to impatience, so I don't recommend it.
But you have an entire forum to share your excitement!

Just never come here again until 5 months and find out you were late for the game and feel bad, but then:
You try the game, and you're having fun.

    But in other news:
    yeah, sure.

Feel whatever you want to feel. I'm excited about this game, but I honestly don't know if I'll be able to spend more than a few hours on it in the first month after release. Work, wife, kids, etc. take quite a bit of time. I've noticed a game has to be VERY good to hold my attention recently. Either very good or offering very quick payoff. I've got several good games I don't have time to invest in. Metro 2033, Crysis, most of my steam library come to think of it, and a whole slew of excellent Wii games I've barely touched are all gathering dust. I hold out hope that Starbound can hook me quickly enough and keep me interested long enough to make it worthwhile. I'm excited, but cautiously so.

I would say no, you should not be excited for this game. It is a pixel-hardly-sandbox-game-at-all that will most likely fail. Have you ever wondered why there is no "Play" button on the "Create Character" area of the "Play Starbound" website? Have you ever wondered why all the updates look like the game is already in beta, while in fact the developers still say that it's in alpha build? Ha - Ha - Ha No, I will tell you the truth. This game was never intended to be released to the public, it is all a big joke. They are all laughing at us while creating their own game to play around with while taking our money away from us for fun.
... Of course I am joking. You thought I was serious?? :V

Starbound is going to be the best 2D sandbox game for a long time to come. Believe me, it won't disappoint when it's released.

In Tiy we trust, from Tiy we give birth to Starbound.
So I say, more yes than no.

I'm amazed that there are so many people on here who say not to be hyped for the game considering this is the main forum for it. :p

  17. Read the thread again, maybe you'll understand that hype is bad for your experience of the game :)

Best thing to do is stay reserved. Be happy it's coming out but not to the point you start getting tattooed and dressing up your dog. That way you can enter the game with a clear mind that isn't already tired of the game before even playing it.

Im looking forward to it but not letting myself get to hyped up about it. From Games to books to Movies to Tv Shows the Glass half empty approach seems to work better than the Glass half full IMHO. Im never let down by anything by being the pessimist but this means im always pleasantly suprised by things instead of being let down. Plan on the Worst Hope for the best thats my motto

in my opinion getting hyped out is bad for ya; most things never live up to hype. excited is fine though! you should be excited for such a massive game like this.
