I didn't catch anything bart said, i assume you mean in the thread that was deleted. I came back home to see it completely gone instead of locked, so i couldn't catch up on what was said.

As for many months, i would hope he meant for release as there will be plenty of work to do between beta and release for the developers. Now if beta isn't until december? Well... All i can say is i hope not.

Literally the entire thread is agreeing with you on the first point. We can most likely get a beta by 2013, but a full release will include many more things, which might take them all the way to 2014. I just hope they can take more time doing the game, so they can have a nice break once in a while.

    Here you go good sir.

Oh the quote from the first post. Yeah, i read it and apparently my brain just stopped paying attention and skipped to the next line after i read "i am working nearly every day of the week". Sorry about that.

It's cool. Meanwhile, let us be merry, and just be glad for the fact that the Devs are working hard on this. I hope they don't run out of fund by 2014, but I'm sure they are spending their funds wisely.

The nature of a game such as Starbound is such that they could keep adding features for the next 20 years before calling it ready and releasing it.
I think that's why not even the Chucklefish team is sure when exactly it's ready, and as such they have "limited" themselves on 2013.

For example the roadmap calls Creature projectiles 70% complete, but they could keep adding projectile types for years if they don't limit themselves to a certain amount at release.

So without any "rushing" Starbound would never come out.
I agree that it's bad when a company cuts major features off a game and leaves terrible bugs in to get it out faster, but in Starbound's case I think it's more about them having to decide how much to do now and how much to do later with updates.

Of course they need to do all the work to finish the existing unfinished systems, though.
Things like the menu screen being pretty and party systems working properly etc.

    It happens.

    OT:
Yeah I could never imagine working the hours Chucklefish does. Also it would be nice they could take a break that wasn't technically still working on the game. XP

The devs can take as much time as they need.
