Should Cash Registers be Able to Store Pixels?

Well, Pixels are essentially currency in the amazing universe of Starbound. So should n`t that Cash Register you worked so hard to get/steal be able to store them? I think they should. anyone else? If not, the Ships Locker could store Pixels.

I think being able to store pixels in anything would be more convenient, rather than having to get a specific type of container.

Pixels should only be able to be stored in a chest that is then buried in the ground in a secret location.

A place that is detailed on a map.

A map that I can procure.

By any means I deem necessary

I was actually very annoyed when I learned that the Pixel Compressor charges 40% to use. 40%... holy crap that's a huge chunk.

That may be the point, though, since the "Casual Scrub" difficulty setting only takes pixels from you. If you had the ability to store them all somewhere with no downside, then there'd be no penalty for death at all.

How about in a safe? The kind that can only be found in the super rare treasure dungeon?

Cash registers should make cha-ching noises. This should be the number one priority in Starbound right now.

Safes are another option. A good rule of thumb is to always put your valuables in one place that makes you feel secure and where I can easily find them.

It's already fine as it is in my opinion, the pixel compressor does the job, yes you lose 40% but that's nothing considering how easy they are to obtain. Go on a sector X desert planet gather ores during 5 minutes and put them in the refinery, congratulations you are now multi-millionaire

That's all well and good, but that's end-game content you're talking about. Something like free pixel storage would make more of a difference early on, when preserving pixels actually matters for progression. Without it, you're actively stunting player progression.

iwould love to see a bank on your ship to hold pixels, AND a greater percentage of loss when you die. maybe based on the threat level of the mobs on the planet (i.e. something like (T^2)% of currently carried loot where T = threat level of mobs) this would make harder planets more of a risk, but a smart player wouldn't carry all their pixels at once. and with it on your ship you need to go to the ship to get the pixels.
or a way to reduce the death penalty.

BTW voxels are a ripoff, you lose less than 40% when you die, why pay more tham that to have somerhing you need to carry a refinery with you to use.

Well you can do that even on previous sectors considering how fast is it to ine in desert planets, only thing it will take a bit longer, maybe 15-30 minutes to have the same amount but at the same time you need much less if you're not end game. Making free storage will make compressor useless and make end-game too easy than it already is, futhermore it will also affect game difficulty overall decreasing it a lot, and that suck for sure.

I found that the difficulty is actually pretty high without the option, honestly. Maybe the game has been balanced since then, but it's still not allowing the player any leeway in the early hours. A couple of unintended death will force the player into spending more time trying to generate pixels, likely getting killed again in the process. If they could store pixels, they could plan ahead to avoid such scenarios and actually get somewhere in the game. Even if the pixel compressor already does that (albeit with its absurd pixel loss system), it's available too late in the game to mean anything early on. But yes, I understand that the compressor would be rendered useless if pixels could be stored. At the same time, it's not exactly optimal right now either (especially when the refinery becomes available).

Then make it accesible earlier, anyway the difficulty should stay as it is if not harder, I admit back when all the monsters used to 1 shot you it was too hard, but now it's fine.
Only thing which could be acceptable is making you be able to get the compressor earlier but that's all (and it shouldn't be easy to craft in that case).

Well that's the point, storing pixels.
Even if in my opinion the game shouldn't be made easier at all that's the only change I could tolerate. Making the game easier is making it less interesting.

    Why bother even saving pixels?

Just make it so everytime the player takes a step, a bag of pixels falls behind him or her.
Because either way by Tier 3 -the player is going to be swimming in pixels.

Problem is you people who keep advocating bad mechanics - don't understand the resulting Diabetic Gameplay.
You are only seeing through a keyhole.

Ahhh . . . A beautiful and lazy Sunday morning where the only argument on the forum is a debate about the relative avarice of cartoon waterfowl.
