Well if the only feature you're adding is inconvenience and inventory-shuffling, I fail to see the point of adding ammunition.

I say nay because the current system does an OK job at keeping guns viable while preventing them from being overpowered. It appears to be much similar to Global Agenda's ammo/energy system.

I believe it just requires a lot of tweaking, and I mean a LOT.

As someone else mentioned the ability to craft different types of ammo as well as having an option that doesn't drain your energy so you can still use some movement abilities would be nice.

I have little to no reason to use fast firing guns anymore. They suck up to much mana energy and do to little damage.

I'm not for that either, but I'd see that as a compromise. However, I'm not for guns that only rely on bullets.

And how is that not a reason to complain? What depth does ammo add? If you had some sort of mod you could add to a gun to vary it a bit, as per your complaint about the energy system, how else would ammo affect the game? It doesn't add depth, it just adds tedium, in my opinion. The resources to craft ammo in Terraria were plentiful, so there was no challenge in getting it; it was just another repetitive, perfunctory step to being able to use ranged weapons.

Inventory clutter is a weak argument. Considering if done the same way ammo would have its own slot as well. its just a question of improving a good system instead of dumbifying it.

Of course it'd only be fair to keep energy weapons using the energy pool and still have bullets for everything else. It'd take some balancing to make sure they're both viable forms of ranged combat, but it's doable.

Again you quote me and I never even mentioned what you're talking about. sigh. If you want to disagree with what I said, at least look at what I actually said. It had nothing to do with inventory management...not that I disagree with what Dudley, TheHonorableGeneral, and others are saying.

I disagree. If we got away from the word "bullet" and used some other name for momentarily powering up the guns, that'd be fine and it'd add some interest to just the "fire and wait" mechanic.

Bullets are great in games that don't allow you to practically attain and hold an unlimited amount of them.

You think titanium and iron aren't plentiful? .... what have you been doing this entire time in Starbound? Certianly doesn't sound like the same grind as they rest of us or you'd see that practically every resource becomes more than plentiful (Iron being plentiful in alpha and beta and then falling out of existence in later sectors, as though we stepp into some alternate dimension)

Games are based on extra steps.
    Why have levels 0 - 10? [tiers]
Why not just start on level 10? 1 - 9 are just prefunctionary steps after all and repeititive.

What's it called when instead of disproving what someone said, they use another example and fight that one?

First of all, I liked then unliked your post, which seems like a bitchy move. Didn't mean to do that, meant to reply. Sorry!

That is true, but the repetition you're talking about is actual gameplay. I don't consider the repetition of mining a particular resource, and then pressing a button to get the ammo a worthwhile step.

I think this is a case where we get our jollies different ways, and for your sake, I truly do hope they find a compromise that sates both of our tastes equally.

So crafting is not part of gameplay in starbound now?

Stack size limits and how many you craft per resource would take care of that. If you only get 5 bullets per bar then that stack of 100 bars will last you a single large dungeon if you're not a terrible shot. Still have a lot of extra ammo floating around? Well then maybe our bullets are just really densely packed in the future to deal with advances in armor so you get a single bullet per bar. It's possible to make just about anything in a game balanced.

    I'd personally like to see item stacks fall to 100 instead of 1000... and then have an armor upgrade that lets you stack more. ^^;

but what's the point? being able to hold down the button longer?

    I'd like an ammo system

it would make bows like, oh idk .... not useless?

and it's make guns have more damage cause I would assume that you would be able to make bullets per level?

like stone, copper, iron, steel, all the way up to t10
