So, there's a few screenshots of a planet with tentacles as foliage. I propose the following; Tentacle Shotgun. It's a Winchester M 1897, but the barrel is a limp tentacle from a cephalopod. When fired, it shoots small cephalopods, like an octopus or squid. The squishy animal splits into multiple little ink spitters, and they explode. The buckshot doesn't need to be detailed. Little colorful bullets would be just fine. It's the idea behind it that is what's important!
Nice photo shop lol. I dont know if such a gun would fit, but it would be fun just for the fun of it.
It can be made to fit. In my thread on various weapon qualities I actually hoped to spark this sort of idea-- Ways to expand procedural generation outcomes. If a tentacle barrel is the unique aspect of the gun, it meshes well with the way guns are generated from three random parts (grip, body, and barrel). The tentacle barrel could either give a special biological damage type, or perhaps allow it to fire squid-missiles that can inflict blindness. Therefore, when randomly generated, any gun that ends up with a tentacle barrel would have one of these sorts of firing methods, probably depending on the class of the weapon (rocket launcher, pistol, assault rifle, etc...). Perhaps it wouldn't seem as jarring and ridiculous if it was described as "A biomechanoid hybrid weapon developed by Apex scientists who were infected by the mutant tentacles. May the day of the tentacle never arrive! Long live the Apex!" The graphical transition to the tentacle parts could be more gradual, as well. Possibly have tentacles extending from the body of the gun instead of the barrel. It really doesn't matter to me, but I do like the idea of a hybid bio/mech weapon with tentacles. Perhaps even a tentacle whip for a weapon?
Fits into Starbound. Sci-fi and randomness kind of, well the game is pretty damn awesome so far from the pictures and screens. YES, A TENTACLE WHIP D
oh man u got me there pretty good, This could be a good April fool joke weapon and yes I'll accept for its term for the moment.
How does it look overpowered? From the looks of things, every unique attribute on a weapon will increase the rarity level in proportion to the stats. Therefore, a given level X weapon could have really awesome stats but no unique mods, or have many cool mods but far lower stats. I actually expect the most interesting weapons to also be the least practical, just like in most games.
