    I have a question, and i was not sure where to post it.(I'm a newb.) will the game crash if you have a race mod installed that your spaceship mod does not support and you already have a character of that race?

    Also will it break that characters save?

    So here's a small craft I wanted to pull together, it is based off of the infamous YT-1400 aka the Millennium Falcon. Now you may feel that this is a bit small for the falcon but if you look up the ship type, the YT class ships were wide not long. My turrets obviously can't rotate in place the way the falcon's can but they are there as more of a roleplay piece, as is the forward "surprise turret". I would prefer to have it on the undercarriage as per the Falcon, but with it not being an object you can flip the top will suffice.
    Q: Rear thrusters; Why is there only one?
    A: If I had stacked them it would look wrong for the class of ship it is supposed to represent as well as change the passageways inside. again being limited to two dimensional, the engines on the falcon were next to each other horizontally.
    Q: I notice the hull armor is three blocks thick is that a little thin for the Falcon?
    A: Most would actually tell you no, It might even be too thick, the Falcon is seen extensively damaged at times and has relatively thin armoring, being mostly a light transport, Solo has modified and repaired her with age, thus she often appears to have a thicker hull than others of the same class.
    Q: I don't see any windows, why is that?
    A: As a Shipwright I personally have issues with light and heavy craft having view ports, particularly if they are combat capable. I don't really have a way to represent it here, but camera based sight as seen in star trek's earlier years is much my preference. While this means substantially more work when the ship takes damage, it also means less chance of suffocation when a flimsy glass film shatters and sprays bodies into space. However note the armor being thin, probably wouldn't help here much X3.

    I built this planetside to also give more of a genuine feel to it having landed. Irony; the planet, if it weren't for my build site, Looks mildly like Yavin IV

    So first off, if you have a race that's not listed what you need to do is go into the mod file and open the universe_server.config with notepad or notepad++ or similar software. Then you scroll down to the modded races section:

    As you see here each race needs to follow the same format. You will probably want to grab your starter items and any items on your ship that you want to keep as anything in your ship inventory will be lost if you are replacing a shipworld on an already existing character. I'll get to that next.
    To add your race you would simply add a line

    Second question: No this will not corrupt existing characters, they merely will not have a rearrange-able ship. To replace your ship on a race you have done the above on, first go into game and take anything out of your ship locker you want to save and place it in your home or the immediate planet beneath your ship in a chest. You will still be there after you replace your ship. Remember your character name. Quit and go to your starbound folder and into your player file. Two ways to find that character now: arrange by date should place the most recently played character at the top of the folder. If you are still unsure open the character file with notepad and search for your character name. Once you are sure you have the right character copy all the files with the same code and back them up somewhere just in case. Once in back in your player folder all you will now need to do is find the .shipworld file(s) matching that code and delete them. As long as you have added the custom race and madtulips and modules in a box are both installed when you load that character again you should be in the starter human ship on the front page.     Another question that I had is why do you not suffocate when there is a hull breach on your ship?

    because your ship is not technically outer space. its is currently coded as its own biome essentially.

    Note entirely true, you don't suffocate because you are invulnerable, the shipworld is set up in that way that you can't die on shipworlds unless you starve yourself. Even falling from very high up you don't die.

    plate stamp machine which is unlocked at tier 2 and found in the ship crafting station. Hull blocks, there are 3 versions, the basic racial hull blocks are unlocked at tier 4, the other two; the ones with a more rounded surface and a square surface are unlocked at tier 5, the basic hull blocks are the slanted ones. Ship parts/decorations are pretty much unlocked at tier 4 except I think for some FTL drives which are unlocked at tier 5 also.

    I can't seem to locate any main engines in the crafting station, am I going to have to scavenge them somehow or something?

    tier level? I am going to assume you are on tier 4, FTL engines are unlocked at tier 5. Madtulip had them at tier 4 before but changed them to tier 5 with the most recent update of the mod.

    1. detects different materials from same group of tileset (apex, apex1, apex2 => same group, etc). (shouldn't this be down even with different race? like linking human and apex tiles together to form a 2-tile hull?)

    you will need to scavenge parts for the metal printer, then you need to do the same, and have steel bars a plenty. you go to the metal printing station and use it, click on the plating option and it should tell you what is neeeded for each set. I do believe if you are going legitimately you will need titanium bars as well for the heavy plate.
