Closed Shiplock and items totally gone.

I had a lot of items in my shiplock and now it sucks having no shiplock on board the ship. What can I do about this?

 

i don't think there is anything that can be done about it yet. i had the same thing happen on my game too. 2 of my characters are without the shiplocker and you are right it sucks. it might be something that can be fixed later on though. i hope so anyway, and there are others who has the same problem, so you are not alone on this one. i know this doesnt help but i hope it does make you fell a little better knowing it is not just you.

 

Do either of you have mods installed?

 

i don't have mods, not sure how they work or how to get them.

 

As far as I know your items are gone I had this happen along with 100s of chests/crates being deleted aswel. I'm pretty you can delete your shipfile then run your character and you will get a fresh ship with locker (back your save files up first) I haven't tried because well I only play perma-death and this was an insane set back for my toon. I'll probably just devote my SB time making a custom race until I start seeing a lot more stability.

 

awww i had hoped that the shiplocker would be restored eventually. is there any way to just delete that character instead of having one without a shiplocker? havent figured out if that is do-able yet.

 

hey if you backed up your files before all this shinnangans happened and put them in now they fixed the issue, I restored an old back up I had and got my shiplocker back but a few crates remain missing from my homeplanet

 

i wish i wasnt so tech backwards. i dont know how to back up files. dont know much about pc's so i guess im just outta luck lol no big anyway, it is fun starting a new character and see how far it gets.

 

ya I enjoy starting over aswel I probably will not even keep this character during final release but if you want to kno here is how you do it
open steam >right click starbound>click properties>click local files tab/then browse local files>open player folder
and this is where all the data for your characters in located
just copy and paste it somewhere else and you created a back up

No sweat, its also the only current way to remove characters by deleting files in here. I imagine someone somewhere has like 50 characters and no idea how to get rid of any

 

i looked and i do not know how to tell the different ones apart so i guess i will just keep them around for now.

 

you can do it on way of trials and error, just copy player folder and then check out players. If something goes wrong just copy backup ^ ^

 

im pretty sure they appear in the folder by date of activity so the most recent character you used will be at the top of the list, for each character ther are also 3 files to accompany it the character file , ship file and meta data however if you haven't yet logged onto the character yet a ship will not have spawned for it so ther will only be 2. This is what I was originally talking about when I suggested an answer to getting a new ship locker just delete the ship file then when you log back into that character you should get spawned a brand new ship.

well i tried it and before doing anything i went ahead and took out the stuff i had in my ship and also the door by the captains area. when i made the back up, i went in and deleted the shpworld data. there were 4 shipworld data entries. i deleted all 4 then i went into game and had a new ship with the shiplocker. i added the extra door by the teleport area so now have 2 doors on my ship. thank you guys very much for the help yay! it worked!! i was so excited when i went in and found a new ship and shiplocker.

Just remember to back up your files after prolonged play sessions incase of future bugs or file corruption.
