Ship Upgrade in Unstable / progression after heat suit

Hi Starbounders!

Is there a legit way to enable ship upgrades? I did the second penguin battle (mech suit) and upgraded past durasteel tier (I choose aegisalt) and have no more quests or missions to go on.

Is that it for the time being?

Also: Where do I get new tech? The only thing I find are those blank tech cards.

You can use blank tech cards to buy new tech- although I don't know if there's a way to unlock new tech to buy.

 

I have already unlocked all the available techs and still have 5 blank cards to spare.

 

Apparently you unlock more techs by upgrading your ship (according to Gull of Doom's YouTube channel).

So... now to figure out how to upgrade the ship. ^^

DUH! I didn't make the cake. After you do that quest the penguin bay merchant unlocks. ^^

 

i did all quests and cant use the penguin bay merchant, i have all 3 endgame armors but my ship is fucking small maybe anything that i forget?

 

After you do so many quests at the outpost, you'll see the Penguin Bay Merchant has a quest. Give him what he asks for and he sends a License straight to your ship's SAIL. In the SAIL menu, go to commands and it should say "Upgrade to (version) Class Ship", when you click on the command, SAIL will tell you the mats you need to complete the upgrade.

Now, why can't I find Durasteel in any of my crafting menus? Not on Robotic Crafting Table, Alloy Furnace or Metalwork Station but I am seeing recipes for durasteel furniture, just not the bars themselves.

 

There's another type of furnace. Only it isn't called a furnace.

 

Huh? I'm sorry... but there is an "Alloy Furnace" it's the upgrade from the Stone Furnace.

 

and I am saying there is another furnace type object you have to make

thanks for the answers, but it seems i found a bug ^^ i cant craft / buy new uprgades for the ship, maybe its because of multiplayer, i played all the missions with a friend, who also cant buy upgrades for the ship

 

Have you done all the misc quests? Starts with getting a girl coffee, then a coffee mug, then a steel spoon. After completing those the whole outpost gains a few quests. After completeing all of those new quests the penguin bay should give you a quest that lets you upgrade the ship. Missing one quest or not completing one quests makes you unable to get the penguin bay quest.

(Its not at all connected to the main quests giving you nano suits/missions)

 

I have a question on this, too. I did all the quests except for the one to get the moon emblem in trde for a blank tech card. I have progressed passed heat suit and have crafted the last three armor sets. Now how do I upgrade the ship any further? I upgraded it twice so far. Rather small...Is that it or is there a possibility to get a real big ship I keep seeing here? I cannot find an answer to that.

 

You need to do all the available quests to unlock each new tier of ship.

EDIT: Yeah, that did the trick!

 

When you search "furnace" you still get magnetic crucible as a result

 

Make sure you have admin privileges (/admin) and type: /spawnitem shipT8 (This will give you a tier 8 ship. You can also replace 8 with anything 2-8). Pick up the item and just left click. But, it does NOT give you new tech.
