(Feel free to share your thoughts, or jump in and brainstorm. This is an open discussion thread) Every now and then a planet containing a ship hangar would be nice as a bit of variety to include with the current type of dungeons. This supports a quest idea I posted on another thread (Link at bottom of this post). Hangar types: 1. Hillside bunker hangar - The structure is a rectangle thick walled bunker style building deeply carved into the side of a large hill, with a large opening for ship exit. Structure is never above ground, must always be dug into a hillside. One or two secluded tunnel entrances to the complex. 2. Sky platform hangar - Tall tower with a large landing pad on top that can fit a ship the size of the player ship. [IMO landing player ship on this might be a bit silly - Do you disagree?] Tower contains a central stairwell climbing from base of tower to the landing pad on the roof. Troop rooms on each level climbing the tower. Balconies with ranged weapon NPCs. Tower can either occur on flat land, or supported by a heavy bridge on each side [Imagine an upside down letter 'T' ] if within a large level sided ditch/chasm. NPC population: Guarded by passive aggressive NPCs that give proximity warnings to back off, or aggressive sentries / robots that just plain shoot on sight. Items / tilesets: Tilesets are dependant on race that occupies the hangar. Blueprints for ship parts relating to a quest (Link below) can be found within storage compartments Hangar dungeon idea relates to a supporting quest idea: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/alternate-starting-quest.51419/#post-1511151
I'd actually say 'both' instead of one. Have passive-aggressive NPCs at first, but if the player 'digs too deep' in search for loot, the deeper chambers hold hostile automations.
