I think it looks really stupid when you jump to a planet in the same galaxy but still go out into space then fly off only to return a few moments later...
Just how the game loads, I presume. Not only that, but think about how long it actually takes us to travel in an interplanetary style. Yes, they're more advance than us, but I would want to get to the next planet as quick as possible. Admitted, going faster than light is a bit much, but I just look past it.
There is only one galaxy in the game as far as I know? It goes from planet --> solar system ---> sector ---> galaxy ---> universe It's one of the coolest loading screens ever. You're made to believe that the speed set for whatever destination is auto-adjusted. So if you're going to a planet 400million miles away or a star 100 million light years it takes about the same time. Only thing I think would make sense is if a planet is visibly close in the solar system, that the lightspeed engines aren't activated, you just get there on full "impulse engines." Would also be cool if going from one sector to another we had a different graphic. For example, a big electric worm hole pops up in front of our ship and a different bunch of graphics happen around us and in the background.
if thats the only thing you fuck up in life, then you're teh most amazing person ever you're right though, needs some variation in inner solar system travel vs jumping across the galaxy. i'd just prefer it not take up more or less real-time, and instead be a mere visible difference
