    What people keep forgetting in this game is that the game saves 3 backups of your player & ship. Every time you start the game it makes a backup and deletes the oldest.

    If the game happens to crash and you find yourself with a broken character or ship then you still have a backup you can restore unless you've exited and started the game 3 times in a row and overwritten all your backups.
