I did it! I finished my base before the next patch was issued! - Located at Gamma Aquacia 932IV (x:29204975) (y:60361109) (Vista) - Jungle planet - No rain or adverse weather effects - USCM Jungle Base Themed - All blocks and decorations were gathered legitimately - No mods - Much of the ground had to be mined/replaced - The trees are imported from another planet The screen shots show the base going from the eastern (the right) edge to the western (the left) edge 1. This is the east entrance -- it's a bridge that features two watch towers, a USCM sign, and two gates. Note: if you plan on making this -- beware of the wooden spike traps -- they can kill you instantly. 2. Just left of the eastern entrance is the music and vanity item storage and crew quarters/barracks. The barracks houses 8 rooms, one of which belonging to a doctor. The other rooms are themed according to the Starbound races. Novakid and Hylotl rooms are empty due to a lack of item implementation in the base game. 3. Beyond the barracks is the mess hall, kitchen, and farm. The farm shares the same layout as the entrance bridges. Crates in the kitchen house ingredients and meals. 4. Past the farm is the seed storage and Stargate. The star gate is the spawn location for the planet. Next to the Stargate are crates to hold misc. items for decorating. 5. After the Stargate there's the main warehouse, security station, and armory. The main warehouse holds all of my block types and materials used for creating block types. The armory stores my racial armor, firearms, melee weapons, and throwing weapons. 6. Just past the armor lies my R&D labs. The R&D labs house all of my crafting stations (some put away in crates). Additionally, the labs play host to all my furniture, ores, and tools. 7. Beyond the R&D labs is my home. The east entrance to my home features a secluded library. 8. After the library is my actual home. It has a server room, movie theater, bathroom, and balcony garden, among other things. 9. The western entrance to my home is the fountain garden, leading out to the western entrance of the base. 10. The western entrance is exactly the same format as the eastern entrance. 1. The ability to duplicate/create unique blocks. Running out is a pain, and exploring can be difficult. I actually ran out of support beams and plant matter blocks -- it took me 8 hours of scouring planets to find a Floran prison to replenish my stock. 2. The ability to clear large amounts of terrain. The drills and pickaxes are nice; but when building a base, they simply aren't fast enough. I wish the bulldozer mod was part of the vanilla game. 3. Turrets shouldn't target NPC's. I've lost so many peoples. 4. There should be more defensive options. Laser turrets, sentries, drones? Where?! 5. NPC's should be stronger/be able to better defend themselves -- stray birds are the bane of my existence.
Awesome base! Hoping for your sake that worlds won't get wiped in the upcoming patches. Getting some Alien(s) vibes as your base reminds me of a jungle planet outpost from one of the movies and/or games!
I think the world wipe is happening in the next patch -- but it's ok. I plan on starting a new character for the next patch and trying my hand at an ice or desert base. Also, I think 'Alien' when I think USCM
Thats an awesome base! well done! this is a simple matter manipulator mod that wont make you feel like your cheating but speeds up block removal a fair bit. http://www.mediafire.com/download/5l8f118h3v42kaj/MoreMM.zip
I like the movie theatre, the stargate as your beam-down spot, and the varied vine tiles with the grey (concrete) tiles to make it look more integrated into the biome. No barbed wire or saw blades? Actually, the sawblades are kinda noisy, so I probably wouldn't have put any up if I made a decent base yet. Grats!
Wow, this base is incredible, I love the USCM theme. I'm definitely going to build something like this for my own character (he's the USCM Supreme Commander) after the final universe wipe. And I agree, those turrets killing NPCs is really annoying, and the ability for villager's to defend themselves would be great. Also, it'd be awesome if you could get USCM soldier, sniper and defense robot NPC spawners, for USCM bases
@Izzabelle Or at least segmented for random generation and hope / ask the devs for a look in. because damn. That is some well made and planned stuff. 10/10 would live in.
That's so neat. It really does look like it was generated, it's that good. I'd make sooooo many Floran babies there.
Dang, this is one of the best builds I've seen yet. It fits in perfectly with the atmosphere and stays very true to its theme. Nice job.
I found barbed wire to be odd-looking if not placed en mass -- it takes a lot of surface area, often at the expense of travel (and I like running around hunting birds and climbing my buildings). Saw blades were omitted due to the noise -- correct. The originally plan had a "wood shop" with saw blades and workbenches. But I couldn't stand the noise for very long. (same thing happened with the electric traps) Thanks! The key is consistency. I made a layout for the buildings that followed some simple rules with few exceptions. The biggest exception was my home/mansion because -- well it's my home and I wanted it to look how I wanted it to. YES
Incredible base! Especially that you put so much effort in it before Alpha st... Beta stage 1 is over. I have to say I stopped playing for the moment and wait until stage 2 or 3 (or perhaps even for full release! lets see...) Also everything done with natural aquirement? Applaus to that!
Thanks -- the natural acquirement was very difficult. Like I mentioned earlier, I got really unlucky trying to find a Floran prison, and it took me ~8 hours before I finally ran into one to restock on all the Floran block types.
