Sh*%ty Freeloading Tenants

This is just a thing that goes in my mind, doesn't matter even though i know the dev won't change anything
Just want to let out my opinion.

Just what the hell is wrong with the renting system
Me: I don't freaking want your beakseed Marlo just chuckling pay me your rent in pixels
Tenant: But sire them beakseed are healthy for a big bird like ya'll
Me: For the wing of Kluex, Marlo just freaking pay me the rent, You are a freaking MERCHANT and what would you feel if i paid your stuff with a goddamn corns!
Tenant: Well ah like corns so uh guess aim okey with dat
Me: Dammit Marlo just stop making excuse for that, I haven't received your rent for like three avian months!
Tenant: But what if i dun have any of them pixels sire
Me: Stop feeding me with that Bullsh*t marlo, I just sold you 10.000 pixel worth of diamonds and you paid me an exact amount, and don't make me go on about how cheap the rent in here, which is 100 pixel you crook!
Tenant: I swear to me mother's grave that I won't give ya no more crops for rent
Me: Sigh... well just don't disappoint me next alright

One eternity later

Me: Okay marlo where is my freaking rent
Tenant: Well 'ere ya go sire three bits of wheat seeds just as I promise, Cos i've been Listenin' that yawl been tryin' to grow food in that big floaty pyramid of yours. so i guess why the heck not give ya some seeds i happen to pick out on the ground next to my house.
Me: *Closes the door* *Pulled out rope and gag chain* So Marlo, have you heard about avian ascendancy ritual.

And thats is the moment when marlo realise that her joke has gone too far.

 

At least you were creative in your rant! Made me smile. Pretty sure the tenants reward will be tweaked in the final update before 1.0.

 

The first time I got Pearlpeas from my tenant, I said some things that wouldn't be appropriate for me to type here.

 

While the "rent" is rather random i would like to add that a higher threat level on a planet does in general give better rewards (you can still get seeds, but they tend to be of a rare'er type ).

 

Just got paid with 8 torches. EIGHT TORCHES! You can't plant and make money off torches. You can't sell them for any good amount of money. It's a good thing that guard actually does his job... Next rent had better be usefull, or I swear this Hylotl is turning pirate. :/

 

This is kinda the reason i build trap doors leading into lava pits into all my colony apartments. Don't like a tenant? Hit the switch.

If that's true, maybe it'd be a bit more accurate to call tenants "refugees" instead. People would be a LOT more humble about what they received from their NPCs if they were branded less as people paying for your living space and more along the lines of "I was a sacrifice to Kluex and have nothing left," for example.

 

I really do wishes that this were just called as a refugee shelter or such since if it really goes like that, I wouldn't even cough them up for rent. But the fact that there are tenants that exist as merchant, weird people, soldiers, and even more weird peoples. I wouldn't precise them as a "Refugee". Ask that to the guy who is obsessed with slimes

 

uh.... *takes idea for lucario mod*.... npc treasure pools must be fixed now... I have to say that currently the tenants are giving crap.. Those useless items do take up inventory space....

 

Just wait until they flesh out the colony system. Maybe hopefully at some point. We'll be able to set colony preference where you can check to get desired rents you want from your colonists instead of randomized generator. Then again. It's not a fun hing without making it RNG is it?

 

My latest tenant gave me a throwing dagger. I think he wanted me to kill him.

So I flooded his home with lava.

I always feel kind of guilty for selling the merchant the seeds he gave me for rent.
"D-don't you like my gift?"
"No, it's just uh... I... I just got the same thing from the guy next door >_>"

 

I have a merchant that never pays me, and explodes when he presses a button or starts a computer.

 

I'm not sure I get what you mean. Are there explosives wired to buttons? Do NPCs even interact with wired objects?

 

He just walks over to a button, pushes it, and explodes. Nothing is wired to anything. He just explodes, and drops pixels.

 

Is this one of the April jokes or is that actually a thing?

 

I swear, it's a real thing.
