As a fellow machine, I really feel sorry for the bits and bytes that make up this thread.

C'mon, folks, is sex really that necessary? In a game about SPAAAAAACE exploration and colonization? While I don't mind having the nature of each race's reproductive method explained in supplementary lore material (if it differs from what you might expect), is there really a need for it to be depicted in-game, no doubt likely earning the game a harsher rating from censor bureaus?

OP: Since you're implying the actual act of sex occurring in-game... this isn't some risque rated-M video game that's trying to shock people or make it to some controversial games list. It also isn't some creepy and bizarre Elder Scrolls mod made for forever alone people. However, being able to have kids I believe is in the game...so, you'd think that at least between Humans, sex is naturally implied, but it's just totally unnecessary and unfitting for actual sex to be in the game...not to mention tacky and tasteless if you consider that this is made to be playable by fairly young people.

Edit: Also, since modding will be a thing...there really should be a filter on the official sites to keep out unsafe content like pr0n skins and sex to keep it safe (assuming that someone would even be willing to make a smutty mod in the first place haha)...because if it IS allowed on this site or somewhere official, I don't think that would do any favors to the game's reputation since I understand the game is for 13 years+.
