So I'm not really up to date on this, has the Starbound devs teamed up with anyone to make sure there we purchasable Starbound servers?

I doubt it... from what I understand it won't exactly be difficult to host a server, even for people who don't have the strongest internet. So no worries, if you mean just hosting a server for you and some friends then you shouldn't have any problems.

Why will Starbound devs need to team up with someone? Mojang didn't even team up with people for purchasable Starbound servers..

I meant more have they talked with any of the major companies that do game servers as I don't want to host it myself since my pc won't be on 24/7 and my net won't be amazing all the time.

  5. It's simple, all you need is a powerful machine and a lot of bandwidth.
I'm sure there will be tons of options to purchase a server for yourself.

If Starbound becomes a very big and popular game, then there are bound to be purchasable server hosting. Even if Starbound turns out to be a really crappy game (it won't) then you could most likely still pay for hosting. I mean, you're paying them, so why should they refuse?

i had a chat with a multiplay support member a couple of days ago.
He said they have starbound on their radar, so if it will be released they will see if they can host the game (imo this sounds like, they are intrested in hosting SB Servers)
So don't worry i think there will be a lot of hosters for SB

With the specifications they listed a while back for what it would take to host a multiplayer server. Then compound that with recent daily updates stating they've reduced the required bandwidth to less than half of the previous numbers, A casual machine with a strong Dual core, or a decent quad core, with anything over 1Mb/persec upload speeds should be able to host a server fit for 2-5 friends, 5Mb/s Upload speeds should be able to net 5-15 friends, depending on actions.

As far as not running a PC 24/7, that is entirely your initiative.
