Server Admins! Allowing Single Player PCs or No?

Simple question. Is the switch on or off for you? Personally, I will be requiring new characters on my server. I don't want someone bringing in their rank 100 full on completed-the-game character on mine. There inst much they could do that wouldn't directly result in other players being annoyed (Great, here comes showoff) or super-powering the player base and killing much of the game play (being given the best of everything).

 

There Are Rumors Of A Server Only Character Type Dealy-o. If There Isn't Something Like That... It Would Make A Decent Mod *Scratches Chin* Maybe.......

 

Depends, If he sure is for fun/displaying your cool stuff then I would leave it on. But if I wanted a game where we are all on an epic quest or such and it's more for gameplay then i would turn it off.

 

i mainly took advantage of that in terraria when i wanted to make a house in my friends server all i had to do was go in and out to get furniture

would be cool if they let you chose one of these 2 options:

1: start a totally new character, or...
2: bring your singleplayer character, BUT, the dificulty is automaticaly set to hardcore, so you lose all your precious loot if you die

 

Haha. Man, if that was an option it would be on. Just to listen to them rage if I 'accidentally' off someone who was annoying the crap out of me.

 

I'd only allow server-side characters.

 

I think do whatever you want. Sure, it might be advantageous to have access to high-quality things (or things that are hard to obtain), but that could be considered cheating. However you view it, its your choice.

 

Server-Side characters, definitely. it would encourage a community bonding. New players could be given items to help them out, etc. Besides, Starbound is dang near infinite so it's not like they have to worry about staying new forever =P

 

Playing with just few friends propably, yes i would allow them to bring own characters. I can't guarantee them i keep my server on all the time.

 

if there is an option my public server will have server saved characters.
Just to get rid of some Inventory Editors.

 

The ideal solution would be if we could have the best of both worlds. Server admins set an option for single player characters or server-side characters.

It would be good to have a possibility to choose between single player and server side characters, really.
