    They shouldn't have.

I think WL2 is the odd one actually.

I mean, all games will eventually drop in price, but usually they're the most expensive at release unless there's a temporary sale going on.

I have seen people say not only way the final tag used to charge more but also so Notch could leave development without legal repercussions.

Well some people likely feel like they devs just want to make the game more expensive to milk consumers more (a few people see CF as the indie EA basically).

also, to be clear, I meant they shouldn't have gotten mad. That being said, I still think Notch is a bit of a <not very nice word>.

I got that, just adding I not only saw people get mad about it but also figure it was part of a scheme for Notch to be able to run away with all the cash as well.

Soooo any word on the supposed price change yet ?

Notch couldn't really have a "scheme to run away with all of the cash." I mean, the game had to stop being in beta at some point. Did those people think the game was just going to be beta forever? They'll have to stop updates eventually, there's only so much stuff they can add to the vanilla game.

And buying it as a preorder counts as buying it as an EA...for reasons.

buying into a game during beta or Early Access counts as a pre-order but it doesn't always work in reverse. You can pre-order many games and not get access to them at all until release day.

It is more people feel notch should have got the game bug-free and have the modAPI and other things that would make it complete. It just seems some people felt Notch should not have left the game until it was what parts of it he worked on where completely finished with all promised content included and anything less was him just tossing it aside out of boredom. I really don't know though.

A lot of people feel a lot of things and I am glad we aren't forced to listen to all of them or to actually do what they want.

it doesn't count as a pre-order on Steam though. otherwise, you'd be able to get a refund on EA games. :)

Fair Point. I still see it as a pre-order, but with zero possibility of backing out, but I can understand others not seeing it that way.

I get Dbr0wn's point. The vast amount of money they pulled in from early access and crowdfunding should have gone solely to this game's development. AS such, it should be done by now.

When they announce a new game, even if it looks interesting, like this Pirate one, I just think "yeah, shame that they cant actually finish Starbound first."

So... it takes x amount of money to make Starbound, they have x amount of money plus y. You think they should spend the extra y amount of money on the game when it's not needed and therefore doom the company to bankruptcy?

Technically, people didnt donate money to Wanderlust, or whatever they are making. They donated money in the crowdfunding to Starbound, because they want that game and wanted to help its development. If you need X amount to make a piece of software, and you get X + 20, then the 20 should go into hiring someone else to code, or testers, or artists.

You can only add so many coders or artists to a team before you reach a saturation point, and I think Starbound is at that point. As for testers? What do you think the nightlies are for? If people aren't doing their job as a nightly tester and reporting bugs and issues, then that's their problem. Are you seriously trying to suggest that a company isn't allowed to make a profit on a game and must sink 100% of the funds they earn in early access towards the game itself?

Yes that is literally what people with absolutely NO CONCEPT OF HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS think things should be done. It's obvious by this point that they truly are serious about the depths to which they don't understand how real life works.

Wait until they find out that bakers sell bread at a profit and not just for the cost of the ingredients

Look, all I'm saying is that bakers made so much profit on today's bread, that they should have already finished making bread for next year. Why isn't next year's bread here already, huh? They already have enough money, clearly there isn't anything stopping them from making next year's bread! Money + nothing = tangible results. DUH. You know it's true because I used math.

(this post is a joke, much like the person posting it)

Right, because you can just use money to instantly generate code. Coding takes time, and once they reach a point where they can just code without worrying running out of funds and needing to work day jobs, adding more money isn't really going to increase the speed at which the game gets finished.

Furthermore, the game has undergone multiple complete progression revamps. Those take a long time, but it will end us up with a superior game in the end.
