Serious Poll: Robot or Underwater?

Why not some amphibious android/cyborg race? Like many others suggested, it would be very cool to have some underwater robot. Like some reptilian race with robotic implants

Robots just seem fundamentally... incorrect for Starbound as a playable race.

I don't really know why, it's probably some personal bias against how robots are always playable in overly "childish" games so to speak... I don't really know.

Then on the other hand, an aquatic race sounds like it would lead to some really cool cities, dungeons, and most importantly, loot.

 

I agree. Just because robots don't have feelings in real life (yet) doesn't mean they can't have them in anime starbound.

Robo-Hobo knows of very few childish games in which Robots are 'always' playable.

My vote is definitely for an underwater race. Aesthetically speaking I think they would be more interesting, so many sea creatures to draw from for inspiration. They can create a really "alien" looking race fairly easily by looking at some of the weirder sea life here on earth (Goblin sharks, angler fish etc.). I've been impressed with the way all of the races look and the lore behind them so far, so I'm sure that whatever ends up being made will be exciting.

It's hard to pick just one, but I would pick robot because they are so traditionally a part of sci-fi stories.
I wouldn't mind either though.

You make an excellent Robo-Point with that picture, Spike.
Mainly that it is a stand-alone picture of the Droids fighting the Fishies.
And, because it is stand-alone,
No Space-Fighters are destroying the Command Post.
And the Droids would have wrecked the Fishies without the Space-Fighters.

Underwater race is too mainstream Robot race.

 

Unless Seria isn't implying anything with that picture, I think this is no longer up for discussion.

 

Well, if there was an underwater race, maybe it would make the devs implement loads of awesome features for the bodies of water instead of them just being empty.

like massive dungeons underwater? that'd make them more lively.
