    Aquatic race + robotic enhancement...
    Fishbots?
    Rustaceans?
    Whaleborgs?
    Robotters?

Sure, but that's mostly things that are already going to be there anyway. Like I said in an earlier post, I'd love to see both of them end up in game, but robots have been in almost everything, they're so generic. Doesn't mean they're not still cool, it's just that an underwater race is conceptually more interesting. There are plenty of games featuring robots, but far fewer with aquatic races. So if we have to choose, an aquatic race is simply the more unique one.

  3. There are also plenty of games that involve flesh-based lifeforms.
Also, how many of those games do you get to PLAY as the robot? I have never seen an MMO or an RPG with a robot as a selectable race.

Also, do tell what special, unique things underwater will have, that nobody else will?

A lot of games that have races have a robot race, but not underwater. It would be hard to execute though.

    Greetings

Robo-Hobo knows of many games in which there are Underwater Races.
    World Of Warcraft (Murlocks)
    Spore
    Age of Mythology
    Garry's Mod
    Elder Scrolls

    and a number of others . . .

An aquatic race is far more interesting and original than a robot ''race'', and having more water-based planets/biomes would be very fun.

If anything robots should just be familiar-type characters since somebody needs to make them in the first place. Or, maybe races could just create smaller, ''perma-mechs''; more of like a Samus suit, so they can still be the race they want but have access to robotic equipment/customization if they wanted.

The Maormer are never shown in the Elder Scrolls games, and there's no underwater stage for Spore, just a ten minute Cell Stage.

  8. I think he's talking about Argonians.

But who spends all their time as an Argonian underwater?

YES! Underwater is winning! I'd love for there to be a Zora-like race.

Just to mention, Octopi and Squids do show a remarkable intelligence amongst non-mammalian animals, and IMO, a fantastic possible species to explore in a game such as this.

Not to troll/flame or anything, but robots would not inherently be "smart", there is a reason it is called "artificial intelligence", as opposed to regular intelligence.

Not sure if anyone else would agree, but to me this green character looks like it could be an aquatic being using some sort of a pressurized hydro suit, perhaps being pumped through that green tube on it's back? Does anyone else see it this way?

    Argonians aren't an aquatic race.

They're more built for water comparatively to the other races only because lizards can swim easier than humans or cats.

  14. Won't matter here either, Underwater races don't get any extra attributes.
A futuristic robot would have both types of intelligence, both human-like and computer like. Similar to GLaDOS or another robot.
Also, I never said octopi and squids weren't smart.
Just that humans and dolphins are far smarter by our measurements.

Argonians come from the Black Marsh, and can stay underwater forever. They are water creatures, just like crocodiles.

I have to say, I like the elder scrolls series, they've taken a lot of hours from my life, but I think that although the argonian race is pretty cool, I agree that they are not aquatic. Reptiles are air breathers, simple as that, and I think that introducing a water breathing race that needs special apparatus to breathe out of water (similar to land creatures needing special equipment to breathe in-water) would be great fun. This is why I love the idea of a cephalopod (squid or octopus.)

Lol, it's funny, until this thread I've been more of a lurker on this forum, but this issue matters to me!

  16. There...
    Will not be...
    A water breathing...
    Race.
There will be no special powers for races, or extra stats.
This is confirmed by Tiy himself.

This is the very last time I will say this.

Please show me the quote where Tiy mentioned about no special powers, I would really like to see that.

I am very much aware that it was mentioned there will be no special stats. But water breathing is NOT a stat. Also, it would give the direct disadvantage or NOT being able to breathe outside the water, balancing things, perhaps even making it more tricky to play that race, making it more fun for those who choose to do so.

I never asked you to repeat yourself, and my apologies if I have upset you enough to do so, but please back your statement up regarding special powers if you don't mind with a quote confirming that abilities such as waterbreathing are guaranteed not to be in-game.

Please remember that it was mentioned that the announced content was and still is subject to change at the Dev team's discretion.

think about it. Robots have been done to death. And unique? You are missing the point. Everyone will have access to what every other race has, even if robots are in game. Within the game, if its robots, they will have nothing more than what an aquatic race would have in terms of quantity and uniqueness. Robots are just robots. There's not really much room for doing anything "new" with robots, because all the possibilities for robots have been thought up and used in one form or another. Like I said, I'm not against robots being a playable race, Its just that robots are in literally every space/future based video game, movie, tv show, or novel.

And as for how many games let you be a robot? Well to start off, lets just get the big set out of the way: ANY game that's based on robots. In addition, several star wars games, chibi robo games, as well as many others I can't think of off the top of my head. How many times do we have games based off aquatic humanoids? Seldom to never.

Also, no race is going to have any advantage over any other, which means a robot would end up being little more than a human that runs on batteries. It would have pretty cool gear, but that gear is the same gear humans would make, because humans made robots. So essentially, there's not much uniqueness to a robot race, no matter how neat it would be to be a robot. If it comes down to "we're only going to put one of these two in the game," I would much rather see an aquatic race.

  19. Remember that Tiy said he didn't want anyone not being able to do something because of arbitrary race limitations.

    So...
