Serious Poll: Robot or Underwater?

No harm in dreaming though It would be kind of pointless in my eyes making an aquatic race that were infact identical to humans, but just living under the sea. Fish people breathing air would just seem weird.

 

Well I don't see a legally binding contract anywhere that ties the devs' hands when it comes to this. It is their game, after all. Do you really think tiy would suggest an underwater race that would drown...underwater?

 

Well... Maybe it will be something like Argonians from TES?

An underwater race would be fun to play with but eventually not be so good since they have privileges so they must have down-sides, if they do implement it, I assume they'll need something to protect them in the air because it may harm them, seeing as Starbound will probably not be water-pool parties, I'm sticking with having a robot race, they may look weird ( some of them ) but they are still downright awesome!

Either one will be good in my thoughts, I can never decide.

 

while i mentionned kisame from naruto as a sort of example of what an aquatic race might look like in a previous post, after thinking about it, id change my vote from robot to aquatic if it was a sort of shark-mens similar to kisame's concept

 

That's pretty much my reasoning, but even then, who says you have to stop at 6? I know they need to cut off there to get the game out, but after release they could add even more.

 

I hope they do add more than 6 and eventually they probably will add more it's just there were six race boxes shown, there could be more. After release and updates would definitely be a good time to release other races and such like the robot/under-water race.

 

There are some things I just feel are guaranteed.

But if Tiy and the Others were to implement all of these supposed "Water-Dungeons", how would other races gain access to them?
Any advantage in being a Fish-Person would be cancelled out, if all the other races could get to their Dungeons.
And implementing such a wide variety of things just so that one race can use them underwater, is just a waste of development time.

But if Diving Suits are easily obtainable, why not just be another race?
Because the only advantage I can see to being a Water-Race is the ability to breath underwater.
However, if other races can gain access to the Depths simply by using a Diving-Suit, then why not just be a Robot with a Diving Suit.

 

Unique items to each race. An underwater race would have largely underwater themed items. What are robot themed items? Oh yeah.. Guns.

 

Giant mechanical limbs, pistons, computer screens, gears, springs, piping, wiring, jet packs, magnets, remote controlled objects, anything steampunk, turrets, scanners, headlights, pressurized air tanks, mechs, extra storage, hacking tools, power tools, viruses, teleporters, holograms, drones, laser shields, self-repair tools, circuit boards, floppy disks, transformers, cooling fans, aesthetic lasers, missiles, radars, moving blocks, cranes, guns and more.

C'mon man, use your imagination!

Space Ships, Transformations, Robotic Attachments such as Claws, Clamps, Hammers, Wheels, Treads, Spikes, Drills, Lasers, Lots and LOTS of Aesthetic attachments like; Eyes (like the Robots from Battlestar: Galactica, or the ones from Starwars), Trashcan Robots (R2D2) Skinny, grunt robots (Phantom Menace Droids) Heavy Duty Robots (Crushanator) Hovering Robots, Floaty Ball-Robots (Training Robots, from Starwars) Little wheelie robots (Again.. Starwars) and best of all, Transformers.

And, being Robots, you could have like, flying Rocket-Cities. And Cyborgs.

I voted for underwater, but because of my healthy obsession with the Mass Effect franchise, something similar to the Geth would be hawt. I mean look at them. Don't you just want to hug them and keep them in your ship.
