Underwater only because they sound more practical.

Apex already have the "in the future" culture, so if robots were in the game they probably wouldn't be super advanced like them.
My guess is that the robot race would be either a 'junkyard' culture, or a 'military' culture. probably the junkyard as it makes for a more diverse setting, but like i said it's just a guess.
I'm also going to guess that in their description (if they were picked) that they are part organic, so that they need to breathe, can get poisoned, burned, etc. so as to keep the race balance.

Playing as the aquatic race WOULD NOT allow players to breathe underwater, I am 99% sure of that. keep that in mind when picking them.
if the description of the race is released it would probably say somewhere that 'some have left the aquatic life and thus lost the ability to breathe underwater' or something to that effect, but players will not be able to breathe underwater without equipment, that I'm sure.
The non-player aquatic race themselves could still have an underwater cites and the like. and would make underwater exploration a bit more interesting in my opinion.
The 'religion' culture has already been done, and I'm having a hard time imagining what other kind of culture would work for an underwater race, but I'm guessing a 'medieval-hierarchy' style may fit well with Atlantis style building design.

I voted robots, purely because an aquatic race with no gills seems silly to me.

When I think of Underwater Race, I think of Abe from Hellboy.

  4. All of the robots I mentioned before can think for themselves. Thinking for themselves is part of their programming.

  6. Exactly.
In a sense, people are "programmed" to do their own things too.

I'd like to see an underwater type race, perhaps similar to the Zora from LoZ, robots are so overdone. It'd be nice to have a change for once.

  9. ....how can you say that when your asking for Zora... Robots fit into a Sci-fi setting quite well... and besides I think we dont need Zora...becuase they need to be original ... Robots sorta come in Sci-fi...

now dont get me wrong, I think both should be in the game

Oh come now, Tiy. You know you want to give us both.

Aren't there two races that have yet to be revealed?

Underwater or robot.. underwaaater.. or robot. HOWZABOUT BOTH. I'm pretty sure the forums would explode into a gibbering gob of gratitude. 100% pleased, with none of that sticky disappointment residue. I know I'd be among the gob.

    Alternatively: fish robots.

The other reason he might be making us choose is that he already has the last race in mind. If that's the case, there isn't a whole lot holding them back from releasing the losing race in a future post-release update.

An underwater race would be absolutely fantastic! Especially if they characters actually had gills instead of lungs and the resultant home planet was based on this. Starting the game on a water covered planet would be such a different experience to playing the other races and this way, the underwater race would have to build an exploration suit to venture onto land, and a diving suit for vice versa. It would add a lot of extra variation for planet design!

I'd also love to see all the underwater themed buildings, furniture, dungeons etc to go with them, and their waterfilled spaceship would be awesome.

Yeah I see no reason why the race that isn't implemented at launch couldn't be implemented later on. I guess that they might not be able to do both currently due to time restraints. Adding a new race with new buildings and items etc is probably quite time consuming, and they must want to release the game before they get too carried away adding all the ideas that they have.
