Would be interesting if the game had an online system ala the game "Journey" , where when playing solo you would sometimes cross paths with other explorers (with restrictions or whatever balancing seems fit) but it would certainly enrich what a great experience this game is shaping up to be
Unless of course, they decide to grief your beautiful village. And your ship. If it is implemented though, it'd better be optional
