So because of the different varients of seemingly-identical materials you'll pick up as you're going about doing your thing, your inventory inevitably starts to get a bit cluttered and mandates some manual cleaning, especially if you're trying to hunt some rare material you don't have a stack reserved for yet. Would it be possible to set up some kind of a pick-up filter so that you'll ignore certain types of items (ie all the dirts, sands, snows and stones) so as to reserve inventory slots for more interesting and desireable items, only picking them up if you've already got a slot occupied by said item? You could break it down first by broad catagories (armor, foodstuffs, crafting materials, meds and stims, tools, weapons) and perhaps on an item-by-item basis (ignore foodstuffs with bad reactions to your character's race, certain weapon-types like shortswords, spears and axes, etc). That and some kind of manual pickup where you can click an item on the ground while holding a specified key (Alt, maybe?) and give said item a highlight and a displayed name so you know exactly what you're picking up.
