Segregation

Ok.. just commented on a thread about which race you will choose to play and which you wont.

A lot of people seem to dislike the Apex and I have to admit I am not fond of them at all.

However I will be happy to find cities and villages full of them to see what they are like.

Now my question is... when you make your huge city, find your homeworld and cover it with villages, bases or whatever... will you invite every type of NPC to your homeworld or will you exclude some?
Or.. will you invite all of them to your world and then create segregated areas for each race?
So for the Apex haters you could make an apex village that is not pleasant, an Avian village that is underground with low ceilings... that kind of thing.

I guess NPCs can be tweaked to bring them into your buildings, city, village, etc... It isn't yet know how it will work or be done, but it was even said we can have NPCs inside our personal ship itself. Then we must wait for new info but it is likely you can have just one village with X race kind of npcs.

However the question is valid. I am not sure I will have any Apex on my world, unless they are slaves working down in my mines... watched planet of the apes too many times to ever really trust them.

I don't know if you can even gather enough NPC followers to fill entire cities.
In the case of nameless immigrants coming to your planet, if such a thing even exists, maybe
it would be a cool mechanic if certain races only immigrated if they found homes they liked.

 

Why would I do it? well for fun of course.... what is the point of having a sandbox to play in, if I can't be different from who I am in real life. Fairly sure in real life I don't commit genocide, but give me a space 4x game and I will wipe out entire planetary populations just for funsies!

 

Well ok if thats your thing, personally I just hope the local fauna and flora of the planets I visit will keep me occupied

What the hell... haha this thread is in support of discrimination (in my view), I think we should have a more open and a multiculturalism view on the game. If you could use the Apex as a stepping stone for intelligence then all the races would benefit, the universe would rid itself from disease and viruses, productivity would go up and the world of starbound would be a better place. But if you want to have segregation, then all you can hope for is the fact that the Apex will continue to evolve, you're species wont, they will end up with the most powerful tools and mechs in the world and most likely take over your planets. :I

So you are saying that building a big bird cage for my Avian slaves to live in is racist.... I just dont know what is right any more.

To be fair the post probably comes off a lot darker than I intended. I just wondered if people wanted a large multi-race world, or to create worlds full of just humans, just glitch, just flea infested Apex..

 

I think you should do what I plan to do, Collect a flock of avians, breed them, then start a fast-food chain called "GFC". (Galactic Fried Cocks)

I want lots of NPC's... animals will be shot on sight. Except the 50 million cats my daughter will insist on having. In fact if lots of cats are in the game I can certainly see myself building a base on a moon just for the cats.

 

I agree. Let all the Apex haters band together and build huge priso.........errrr cities/mines and have them work for us.

 

I don't hate the Apex. I just feel they are inferior to humans in every way.... which sounds really really wrong when I read back what I have typed. Ah well at least the Apex aren't big chickens like the Avians...
