Sector 3 Boss.. wtf?

So I have the best armor I can make (Knights Armor, Glitch) and a weapon 3 times better than the best craftable weapon, which is so weak it's useless, btw. So I figure I must be ready to summon the boss, and he repeatedly 1 shots me. After 4 times or so, he just vanishes and all the materials I spent hours mining are wasted.

I cannot get any more prepared, so what's the deal with this guy? I can easily 1 shot any creature on Threat 3 worlds, but my attacks barely tickled him. For reference, within the current patch, I found the previous 2 sector bosses to be effortlessly easy to defeat.

I've got nothing else to say, other than he must be broken.
You'll have to find some way to deal with him, whether it be through mods or other means.

 

That's disappointing.. Doesn't help you don't respawn with the extra health added by armor. I try to avoid exploiting but since he's absurdly overpowered right now so I don't believe I have much choice.

I bet a gun would help to avoid his fire breath, but I've never seen one yet. Still whackin' away with a sword that sets things on fire.

 

Hes not overpowered. I beat him legit yesterday, I think having a dash tech is rather necessary. He was fun to fight, just dodge the fire and learn where to hit from so you don't run into him. Beat him on my first try.

 

If I have the best available armor and he can kill me in 1 hit from full HP he is overpowered and that's just a fact. It shouldn't be expected to be able to do it without getting touched when you have to get jump up at him with a melee weapon to even hurt him. Best Bow at the tier does nothing.

And I assumed it went without saying that not everyone is going to have a gun, or dash, or anything you may have had. What I DID have however was the best everything I could possibly get without getting really lucky and stumbling on something, which I did with the sword I found, it being very effective at this point in the game. Bosses can't be designed around items or tech the player may very well likely not even have.

 

Using a shield allows you to take his fire without dying instantly. If you've got a strong weapon it's actually quite the fun fight as blocking becomes a requirement to survive. But yes, I do think it's a bit overpowered at the moment.

 

PRO TIP: Standing in 1 place and shooting isn't the intended way for you to play the game.

I actually killed him legitly yesterday with a steel bow as a Hylotl. The trick is to be on a long, relatively flat piece of terrain and move back and forth. He only spews fireballs based on where he THINKS you're going to go, so if you're moving to the left, he'll breath a bit further and try to make you move into them. He also never seems to try to hit you with melee attacks, which is a GODSEND.

I only died once because I ran into a natural wall that I forgot to take down.

 

Don't cheese him, kite him. (Although Ymrir still considers that cheesing.)

 

I didn't do any such thing. I lived for quite awhile but 1 mistake is all it takes. It's not like you watched the fight or know anything about me. Also if you actually read before you trolled, you'd have saw where I said I only had a melee weapon. Stop trolling please.

I shot him with the steel bow 4 or 5 times and it didn't even visibly lower his HP. Did you shoot him many hundreds of times or something? My sword hit him for something like 105 damage a hit and put burning effect on him, and it took about 3 hits before I saw the bar budge.

 

don't expect all bosses to be easily beaten by just yourself... i bet hes nothing compared to bosses i went against in dark souls, maybe if you can handle him yourself get some friends to help? it would be boring if the average player was able to beat any boss easily on his own.

 

I was fighting em on the surface for awhile, then went into a small diagonally-placed cave "Codenamed: Gaia's Vagina" and fired out from it like a pillbox. Got em down the last 1/3 of his HP from there.

 

This isn't a finished game, he's not properly tuned. Why are so many responses written as if the poster doesn't understand this fact?

And also you can't have progression mandatory bosses require multiplayer when many people only play solo.

 

yes you can, give me a valid reason why you cant? Dark souls could be beaten solo; i did it myself but many players still needed help no reason this game cant be the same

 

Because that's not how it's going to be, I guarantee it. Dark Souls is so vastly different it's kind of strange to even compare it to Starbound in any way. Also, most games don't go the Dark Souls route because while you may get a lot of hardcore sales, a more "accessible" game will sell better. Lastly, this game is a BETA I am reporting something that I find to be in need of adjustment and am reporting it.

 

Yes actually, you can. A boss that still remains "difficult" for a group of players to kill should be close to impossible for a single player to take down. The devs have stated for a long time this game was intended to be played with others, so one could argue that it is a multiplayer game that allows you to experiance it alone, if you want. By making that choice, I would also assume I am going to have a difficult time with content that is designed to be taken on by MANY players.

 

1.) Dark Souls isn't a hard game if you know what you're doing
2.) Demon's Souls was much harder and unforgiving. I'm sure you loved your Estus in Dark Souls. Guess what? No such thing in it's predecessor. Souls fans call Dark Souls "Prepare to Casual" for a reason.
3.) The "gitgud" argument is ridiculous when the boss' damage is obviously broken. You keep going on about Dark Souls, but guess what? You can take more than one hit on all bosses on that game. I want to see you solo it if one hit was an instant death.
4.) "Gitgud" is getting really old when half the time people are saying it on threads pointing out obviously broken content.

 

Here's a really easy way with 3 steps:

1. Find an avian airship (This is the hard part)
2. Place decoy princess on top deck (seal off merchant quarters if needed)
3. Summon dragon and fight along side a crew of pirates. The pirates will attack the boss once one of their comrades are attacked by it.

Kinda cheesey, but in my mind, I just recruited a pirate army to help aid me lol.

 

I actually like this. It's not really cheesing the boss since NPC damage is really low right now, and it can still fight back against you.
