Searching for straw in the universe

Let me begin with a story:
Yesterday after traveling to a remote planet I have, by mistake, lost my homeworld and with it, all my seeds of wheat. At first I was upset, but then I thought - that's a good opportunity to travel the universe with a purpose - the purpose of finding a new grain of wheat. After all there is nothing my character likes better then a piece of space burger.

I started traveling from planet to planet, but gradually I understood that what I am doing feels more like strolling then like searching. The reason for this is that I have no way of looking for a planet where wheat is more likely to be. Planets currently have only two external parameters - biome and level. They cannot be scanned from space for anything besides these parameters. Level is besides the point for finding wheat, and while biome might be related, I have not Idea how to guess on which biome wheat will be found.

The same goes for a person looking for an Apex village or a Glitch moon base. I believe the most impotent change which should be introduced now, (perhaps besides the difficulty curve which now makes only a tiny fraction of the planets reasonably interesting to travel at every given moment), is putting some sense in where things are that the player can discover. Currently the game is procedurally generated, but the logics behind this is hidden, and looking for it in the books of lore yields no enlightenment.

Exploration is essentially searching in order to learn and understand. Please, authors, give us more things to understand and research about the game.

I'm fairly sure at later levels you can get items which allow you to scan planets to see what kind of stuff they have. If not, they should put that in. Like, something that tells you that the planet is rich with gold, and something which detects what kind of life there is on the surface. I wouldn't say this is a particularly high priority thing though. At least not compared to other issues there are.
