Bug/Issue SDV maxes out my RAM, causing my chromebook to crash.

I have an Acer CB3-131 chromebook, newest model. Using crouton, I installed the XFCE desktop on Ubuntu Xenial.

I tried to run the game, but it completely crashes my computer back to the boot screen.

I have also tried several other desktops, and even tried to run it on Trusty rather than Xenial. Still, no luck.

I've been able to run West of Loathing, Garry's mod, Don't Starve, and Don't Starve Together on this very computer with no such problem.

I really, really, REALLY want to play this game! Is there anything I can do short of getting a new computer?
