I randomly traveled to a moon thinking it wouldn't work & it used all of my fuel. I managed to use all of my wood to get 92 fuel but I need 200 to get back home. I cannot stay on the moon more than a minute because of oxygen. Is there any way I can get back home?

go to a nearby planet, deforest it, start a base, get enough fuel to go home and go home

Yeah! In your ship, go to your teleporter (on the far left), press 'E' on it, and then select "Go Home." Assuming you set a home planet, it will teleport you there. =)

is coal really that hard to find? ive had no difficulty fueling up. yeah its a little time consuming but better than rushing and ending up stranded.

I always make sure I have at least 400 fuel before going anywhere.. Also, I avoid Snow, Tundra, Asteroid Field, and Moon "planets".. Mostly due to freezing and/or lack of air..

See, when I saw the title I thought this was going to be about something COMPLETELY different.

The planets nearby are unlandable. :/

Rofl, if you cant get a single wood or coal then well...you managed to flock yourself.
If you really can't get out of there find a invedit mod or just restart.

youre kind of missing out you can find all kinds of precious on those worlds, especially later on when you will need plutonium which seems to be easily found on asteroids and moons.

I wouldn't doubt it, but I only been able to craft the breather backpack thing just before I logged off the last time I played (yesterday).. I had just also finished loading up my ship with everything I had on the planet.. Originally I was going to settle on the desert planet, but after I got murdered by the quintuple meteorite strike during my first Bone Dragon attempt, I decided I don't want to live on that planet anymore..

Yes there is.. You unlock the recipe with the Mk 3 Starmap, but won't be able to craft it until you unlock the ability to craft Durasteel with the Mk 4 Starmap.. It is odd they show you the item early before you can even make the necessary bars to craft the O2 tank..

Most obvious solution is to not go to solar systems where there is only one planet which is a moon and you have no fuel and no home planet.

I managed to find a desert planet & get back.

I have to say that, despite the fact it probably doesn't sound helpful at all to the OP, this is really the most realistic answer. Sometimes in games, as in life, you can make a fatal unrecoverable blunder. If the OP hasn't set his home world and simply cannot teleport home, the only other option I can think of is to start a little left or right of spawn and start mining downward looking for coal. Drop a single platform now and again, and make sure to drop torches here and there, since they might illuminate stuff you can't see in the surrounding dirt/rock. When you start to get almost out of oxygen, Save & Quit, which will return you to your ship. Teleport back, jump down the hole and resume. It'll be slow going, but it's totally possible to get enough coal this way to escape the moon. Good luck!

might as well just start a new char and learn from the mistake. its not like he has anything to lose with this one.

The good news is a character wipe is coming soon anyway. So you won't have this problem soon : P
