Mob Scourge of the Stars!

I think a race of npcs that are spreading like a disease across the universe conquering civilizations, raiding worlds that you have set up base on, and attempting to invade home worlds would make excellent events.

Mutants/Zombies- Pretty self explanatory, would leap between stars on hunks of space rock.

Imperialists- Want to subjugate and enslave (Extremely Bureaucratic)

Master species- wants to wipe out any competition they have because they are the only ones worthy of living. (Think space Nazis except they kill all sentient life forms that aren't their same species")

Ultramind- This being mind controls whole civilizations at a time using them to harvest valuable natural resources only leaving behind structures in the form of basic geometric shapes, the being itself is a ancient machine at the center of a massive ship. (It should be hovering over a city like the ships in independence day and have some kind of armored walls you'd have to break through whilst dealing with the mind controlled inhabitants, and the ships defense systems.)

Sounds like something that would have to be a major part of the main plot.

 

Yeah. This seems like something my mind gravitates towards too. It would be an amazing part of end game, to have to halt a progressive invasion of a planet...
There would have to be a way to ensure they got enough of a foothold to make it an endgame experience.
The npcs land and have some support from above maybe... like a satellite-guided laser that does overpowered damage to you once you get close enough. Keep you away from disrupting building efforts...
They send out scouts, then raiding parties on your base.
Maybe on day 3 the mother ship leaves and they're open to attack. They also start building outposts closer to you.
Perhaps then you can try to go up against them, and if you don't they keep spreading.
It would be cool if their base houses a monster indigenous to their homeworld which would provide that BIG boss battle you want... maybe they have more than one for some reason that goes along with their story!
