*gasping, as if he has been running for miles* "OH MAN, OH MAN! I'VE BEEN RUNNING FOR MILES!" Says Starzy. "Man, I had this idea.. FOR SCIENCE!" After hours of waiting, he finally says, "First, FIRST, WE ALWAYS START WITH A FIRST! I was thinking, them beakers and glasses, man.. They've been wanting to get in on this shiz called Science. Oh, and by the way, if this has been discussed before I are sorry." *he looks down to his keyboard and starts typing.* "Okay, so, First: Beakers, they are the foundation of life. They hold things that bowls or hands could not. Second: Creatable mixtures such as acid, or napalm gasses. Third: Gaseous masses like plasma or N20 that are in small veins in rock and earth." "If you don't get this, then I feel for y'. I really do(n't.) I will clarify." *pulls out a chalk board* *writes:* Add beakers, creatable mixtures like acid or napalm, and gaseous masses. *draws a diagram* "Almost forgot." *begins writing, again:* Add...the...ability to use science to your...ability.... "Since this is a futuristic game, couldn't you have a lab to work in? Mixing things and testing them on poor monkeys? This wouldn't be hard to code (although I wouldn't know). The pros of acidic mixtures, well not pros but interesting additions is that if it comes into contact with anything other than indestructable objects, it would go through them. Just, vary these things to make the scientific aspect of the game truly awesome." After this drawn-out discussion, add science and shit. Kbai.
You forgot thermite. And weapon tinkering. And sy-fy death phasers. And, generally, everything else fron early science fiction movies, such as Star Trek and Space Odyssey. Other than that, this is a rather great suggestion.
chemistry would be a neat idea, as it would be adding the whole potion thing that every game needs to have, but more advanced
Chemistry, or general experimentation would be interesting. Curious why monkeys of low economic standing would be the only test subjects however. Would require (preferably speech capable) creatures of all conditions and standings to adhere to scientific rigor.
Firstly, did you all like my gimmick? Lawls. Secondly, yeah. I totally forgot some mixtures like napalm or thermite. And polytrinic acid, and all of those other James..James Bond chemicals like that green gas that comes through the vents and makes you get knocked out. Lastly, implementing testing on slaves (not blacks, I ain't racist) or monkeys, would indeed be interesting. Add some arm-ties and restraints and you've either got some real nasty internet videos or some really helpful knowledge of what chemicals do to creatures and players alike. Lastylasty, this isn't just chemistry. Like said, make weapon tinkering, and the ability to alter the surroundings of the character usable and awesomable. If you have any more ideas, feel free to Merge EDIT and I will stick it right onto that post right there. *points to the thread name and then down a bit to the post itself*
Yes! Hopefully it wont be instadeath, but I really enjoy the idea of random mixtures to find recipes, and sometimes accidents. Maybe some debuffs? DoT from acidic, and explosive mixtures gone-wrong. Possibly a poison mixture gone wrong also, if there will be poisons to apply to weapons. A shrinking debuff, that lowers damage, from some weird gone-wrong mixture where if it was correct would make someone do more damage. A debuff that makes gun/laser/rockets have accuracy way off aim, due to a mixture gone-wrong for a increase accuracy brew. These ideas are malevolently fun.
Would be fun to test your new substances on unsuspecting native populations, just another way to research and clear for mineral extraction at the same time! Gotta love multitasking at the expense of others
