Not everyone has the same experience with the internet as you do, thus not everyone knows all about these sorts of scams. That doesn't make them stupid. Calling people stupid for not knowing something you feel is obvious says more about you than it does them. It shows you really don't have any sense of perspective or empathy of people other than yourself.

Edit: They might be naive/inexperienced, but that's not the same as stupidity. If you don't want to help then fine, but getting some sort of sick pleasure out of it or saying they deserve it? That's the opposite of helping.

Yeah, I know it's the opposite of helping. I never said I was going to help, and a lot of things that people get themselves into amuse me. Humans are mostly selfish, and I'm no exception. I'm not going to pretend to be a saint.

At the end of the day, we can bring scam pages to the devs attention, then it's up to them to complain/threaten/file against the website's host that someone is giving away/scamming/pirating(taking money for someone else's work) their product.

Link the scan page, what they're doing, and if possible, a whois of their domain to save a little work for the devs in finding the host.

If someone is gullible enough to get scammed, they DESERVE to be scammed?
    A bit cynical, eh?
Let's hope you don't grow old and develop dementia, senility, Alzheimer's or some other mental health problem and have your retirement scammed away b/c you were gullible.
    *end rant

    ^really, how so?
    A no-good con artist scams $ from a 20-something on the internet.
The same con artist runs the same scam on a senile 80-something on the internet.
    HOW ARE THESE DIFFERENT CASES?
Does the con artist know the first scam was 'ok' b/c the victim was young but the second scam was wrong b/c the victim was elderly? Does the scenario change if the elderly victim is wealthy? How about if the young victim is poor?

What about the mentally challenged, is it ok to scam them as well?

"Lol, look at that person fail. What a dumbass. I'm not gonna say anything, because watching him fail is so funny."

    Later that day:

"WHY IS EVERYBODY SO STUPID DOESN'T ANYBODY LEARN ANYTHING"

It's a vicious cycle and it's really sad.

Dramatic much? The people saying, "Well, if they're that stupid to do it, let them" aren't going HAHAHA THAT STUPID IDIOT HE'S GIVING ALL OF HIS MONEY TO A NIGERIAN PRINCE, but it's rather more in the mindset of learning. If they are really that stupid to fall for scams, they should get used to falling for scams so they figure out what things in life are scams.

After all, the best teacher in life is experience.

    This thread is a scam.

Nah just kidding. I know you were just trying to warn people about the scam, but why did you put the link here? I know it's the best way to let them the exact details and the very website. However you did just post the link here, anyone who could have clicked it may have just been exposed to a virus (As just visiting some websites can do that.). Curiosty gets the better of us sometimes and we check things out even when we know of it's nature. I don't know Chucklefish's policy on posting links to scam websites but just to be sure I would remove that link. To tell us the website is one thing, to post a link can be dangerous for those who click it.

if someone really had all this work to do a site to just lure peoples on his traps
why him can't put his time on something productive?
i wonder, what would happen if these peoples started to use they skills for greater good

I think most people who've thought about this should be divided. On one hand it's a scam and it's a shame when people get scammed. On the other hand the only people it targets are people who looking to steal a game. Being scammed out of a few minutes of their time and nothing else (maybe some malware) for trying to steal a product. I can't feel sorry for them at all. I don't like scam sites in general, plenty will target innocent people but this particular one only harms thieves.

I suspect given how upset OP is and the style of their posts that they might have actually fallen for the scam and might be particularly fired up about this because they were personally targeted.

A true Starbound fan should know they won't find the game anywhere as long as the devs don't say anything related to that on the official website. So I don't really see the point in these scam websites. Who are the fools that bite that?
