Are you planning on adding support for the penguins? They're a fully playable race in game hidden in the files.

It seems that using Starcheat to color you characters MIGHT have something to do with the error when trying to load them into SBSE

I'm not sure what exactly triggers it though, so the best I got is either don't use SBSE to color your characters, or remake them.

    I'm on Stable as well.

I edited my character through Starcheat but all I did was grab all the instruments I wanted. So maybe if you've done anything with Starcheat at all SBSE just won't work?

I'm going to backup my character files and make a new, fresh character. I'll let everyone know how that goes in a bit.

    EDIT
    Found the issue!
If you've edited any of the characters at all even the slightest using Starcheat, SBSE will always give the error I posted earlier.

But of course, that's only for that specific error.

So until these two become compatible with each other somehow, you're going to have to split up your character folder for characters who were edited with Starcheat and characters who were edited with SBSE.

It seems I get this error when I load my character:
    Code:
    Warning: Encountered SBSETypeError
Operation may not have been completed
It's my first time using this program, other peoples are getting it as well.
    I wonder why.

Sorry for the delays, a new version of SBSE will be up by Wednesday this week that addresses all of the outstanding bugs mentioned lately. Thanks to anyone who's been patiently waiting and everyone who submitted bug reports and play files. You guys rock and make things a lot easier. :)

Due to a change in policy on the official Starbound mod resource section, I've had to remove SBSE from the site. However I am permitted to have this thread here, so please direct all issues you have to this thread. The policy change forbids users from uploading executable-based mods (such as third-party tools or utilities like mine that are run separate from the game), this is due to some malicious users uploading harmful programs intending to exploit the mod resource section.

SBSE is not a malicious program and does not intentionally damage your game. It is however very much in beta and will likely have bugs. I go to great lengths to avoid potentially corrupting your game or save files, SBSE only ever edits .player files (while also backing them up first) and nothing more, but please be aware there may still be some risk in using the software. You are responsible for your own safety, back up your files first before using anything like this, or just don't use the software. It's sad that a few have ruined it for those of us who intend to provide useful utilities to this community, but if this is what must be done to prevent users from being harmed, then so be it. I urge everyone to practice caution when downloading tools, aim for established and trusted software. It's not a big deal to be relocated here, I will continue to develop as normal. Play safe.

i'm wondering. phaze, what's that image in the background when you open SBSE?

... also, when will it be updated?

Are any of your characters wearing items that can't be colored/dyed. I get that error wearing items without any directives connected to them.

I'm getting that "Warning: SBSE TypeError. Operation may not have completed." error and eternal reading assets out of seemingly nowhere. My game's vanilla other than a songpack, ui faster scroll, patch to be able to break the frog and mole merchants, and a Novakid respawn animtion. I made a copy of my giraffe_storage to mod without affecting my playing on my favorite server but used it once and deleted it and that shouldn't have affected it?
Kinda baffled, I used it to recolor some clothing just a few days ago fine.

So it turns out if you run it as an administrator, it seems to work (at least a little bit) better. However, I run into an old issue; all of my characters are unable to edit. They have a small triangle with an exclamation mark, and under every character it simply says 'Unable to edit.' I can't click them or anything. Not sure. I can send files or whatever if you need.

i always run it in admin mode for various reasons... still gives me that error.

I'm getting a "Warning: SBSE TypeError. Operation may not have completed." while editing the colors of a character I created, but not touched in-game.

The first time it happened, it completely made my character uneditable, selecting them would show nothing in the editing interface. I loaded a back-up and re-colored the Body Directives part and saved, the thumbnail looked normal (using the save preview showed it's fine too), but when I selected the character to edit the colors, two of the directives have been deleted out of nowhere, and when I try to input the colors back, it gives the TypeError and refuses to save.

I'm in Unstable, using no big mods (only the Spawnable Shield Generator). I have not played the character ever since I created them.

I fixed my SBSE, it took two SBSE installs+uninstalls (first time didn't seem to uninstall right, it left files behind) and a reinstall of Starbound, but it works fine now. Not sure what happened, but, yay?
I'd like to suggest error/crash logging as a feature possibly since a lot of people seem to get some varied problems.

I'm getting issues with the handy space helm. If my character is wearing it, the player cannot be loaded in sbse. It says "unable to edit"

    Unable to edit?
Is it because I'm wearing super modded level 9999^33 armor hack and stuff?

No, I tried it on 3 fresh characters.
