You can already set one planet as your home, why not be able to save multiple other planets! and name them so you can come back to them later? I think this would be a cool idea, any thoughts?

I had a similar thought. We need a way to set "favorite" planets. We should not have to jot down the exact co-ordinates and names of all of the planets that we enjoy visiting.

About as hard as it is to not be a douche bag on the forums over someone making a simple suggestion.

As an aspiring indie game developer myself, I know that anything that pulls a player outside of your game is bad on many fronts, primarily by breaking up the game experience, especially for a feature that is easily added. You want your player to get lost within your game. Not have to stop and research or take notes.

One HUGE thing you need to remember is this is a BETA test. As a proper beta tester it is our responsibility to look not only for bugs, but anything that will add to a players enjoyment of your game. Especially small, polished and easy to implement features such as setting some planets as favorites.

Lastly, I refer you to Tiy's post on the 3 stages of beta
    http://playstarbound.com/how-the-beta-is-going-to-work/:

And in case you are too lazy to read, here is the main part you need to focus on:

I didn't think of it that way, I apologize then.
I guess I'm worked up because there are people on the forums that want the game spoonfed to them.

Yeah a favorite tab and recent planets log or something would be nice. It's the damn future and I can fly a ship but not review the logs of my most recently visited planets?

Another plus to this, roleplay and immersion wise, would being able to name the planets/systems/constellations. For fun purposes, or just informational purposes. I like to scout out planets or systems that contain a lot of planets or things I'm searching for, and having a notebook full of numbers is really unappealing.

Having a notetaking system that is in your ship would be great, and even being able to pull out pages as items to give to other players would be awesome.

The star map should have two more things:

    1. A historic log of the last X planets visited, where X is based on a setting. The more planets for which the game can 'save changes' without deleting the changes in previous ones, the more planets can appear in the travel log. The list will have the date of the last time they were visited, and the time spent there.
    2. A list of at least 10 planets you can save, with a small name and/or description you can set for them.

Basically, all the tools you need for exploring the galaxy in-game. without having to resort to spreadsheets. Not necessarily an automatic process, but the tools there, in game. Charting courses through the galaxy, listing where you've been, what was found there. etc... And of course confirmation when you travel far away from home and accidentally click the make home button. and get lost in space.
