Saplings?

2 things:
1. How are these saplings used? They seem to come in small pods and I'm not sure how to make them grow.
2. <todo> what is that? to do? as in they still have to make names? please reply with your questions or answers

 

Just place them on the ground, they do take some time to grow, but they will grow.

<todo> Adding names and descriptions is on the "To Do" List.

 

They take 4 mins according to another forum goers tests.

They seem to grow significantly faster than crops, 4 minutes seems about right. They can be planted on snow as well as dirt, which was nice since my first planet for my new character was a snow world.

I LOVE being able to plant trees. Before this, I mostly used packed dirt and cobble bricks since I needed my wood for fuel and platforms, but now that wood is renewable without having to go to another planet I build most of my stuff out of wood.

 

After you place them on the ground you can watch the saplings grow and start to crack their pods, but for full growth to occur you have to leave the screen.

 

I've also noticed that the brain tree saplings have no icon. Something they might want to look into
