Sandstone brick uncraftable in Pleased Giraffe?

I noted after mining sandstone that I got a notification to crack "sandstone bricks".

However, and I tried all crafting tables I know, I cannot see the recipe anywhere.

Is it a bug or was it a desired feature? And if the later, is it normal that I still get a notification that I "learned the recipe for sandstone bricks"?

Not sure why exactly. At one point they made the Sandstone Set available at Frogg Furnishing, but then they removed it from there.

It could certainly be something that fell through the cracks. They may have removed it when they made the set buyable but forgot to put it back after they changed their mind.

 

Could it be a mere incident you think?

Like was said, we -stiill- get a notification for having learned the crafting recipe. It is just... not accessible?

Ditto. With all the sandstone I'm gathering on my average desert planet trips, I would like to be able to do something else with it can flushing it through the trashcan

 

The sandstone furniture can be found in structures on dead planets

 

Which is nice.
But I wouldn't dislike being able to craft it myself rather than have to play tombs and village raider all the time

Edit: But seriously, this is really just a small niggle for me as I love how the game has been turning out, especially with the colony update. Still wouldn't dislike being able to craft these things again myself again though

 

try 3D printing it, but i think it should be craftable AND have a unique tenant

 

It really bummed me out that I couldn't craft the bricks like I used to... I love working with sandstone bricks and it is much easier to find than clay. My guess is that it slipped through the cracks. I've had to resort to stripping it off the desert and arid structures I find... Yes, as said, you learn the recipe, but that doesn't matter because it is not assigned to any crafting station.

As said in this thread already:

Sandstone furniture is not found on Dead planets. Small amounts of it can be found in structures on Desert planets though. However, it is no longer found in Sandstone Chests, only as pre-placed items in microdungeons. (They removed sandstone stuff from the loot tables when they added them to Frogg Furnishing, and did not put them back after they removed them from Frogg Furnishing.)

It is not craftable, you cannot 3D print it, and there is no sandstone tenant. Current tenants can be seen here: http://starbounder.org/Tenant

there's a desert mini biome on dead planets now (idk why)

 

Oh, right. I forgot about the desert biome now spawning on Dead and Volcanic planets.

So yea, you could get them on those planets, but they will be a lot more rare, since they will be competing with 4 other mini-biomes on Dead planets and 3 others on Volcanic planets.

 

Because of this error, I'm adding a way to craft the Sandstone set in a mod I am working on.

 

Looking through a couple of extracted versions of starbound I have, it looks like the folder recipes/biomes/sanstone was completely deleted from stable, the sandstoneblock.recipe (sandstone bricks) file was in that folder.
I think it was an oversight when they removed the other recipes in there. I loved sandstone bricks, it's a pain to hope you find any though.

 

Fixable oversight I'm sure.

As for finding them? Honestly, I've found a lot on the handful of desert areas I've recently explored, lots of them used in the microdungeons. I'm also just one race-statue away from a complete set of the original six, hoping they make a Novakid... wanna re-create my little garden thingy.

 

There's already a Novakid statue, you can craft it pretty early.

Just press C, then look for "Campfire".

Anybody know if the devs ever said anything about this yet?
Consider that right now sandstone crafts are found in neither the Frogg Furnishing store or as crafting recipes either anymore since the last update.

 

I've had no time to ask them, but, for now, you can use my Recipe Reorganization mod to craft them.
