Rydian's Starbound Trainer (Invincibility, Infinite Items, etc.)

Updated with a WIP infinite health code. You can still get one-hit killed with this if something does more damage than you have HP, I'll make the next version raise your max HP to 9999 to avoid that if I remember to (and assuming this new code is stable enough and works for people). I removed Lava Heals You since it's not really useful now that this code exists.

Thanks, though I don't actually need to update the trainer each time the game updates. I'm using signature scans to find the right bits of code to modify, so even if they move around between updates, as long as the code revolving around what I'm editing doesn't change, the trainer doesn't need an update. I didn't actually update it for three patches in a row because it kept working.

Which means it's not official, so mine isn't "an alternative to the official", both are made by third parties and do the same things.

Except I release my trainers for free because of sites like that which want you to pay them for cheats. In fact, cheathappens.com is actually WHY I started doing this myself, I made my Terraria trainer because the only other one at the time was the CH one, and I'm not going to pay for cheats for a game I already paid the original company for.

 

Well, yeah, I figured you would be using pointers anyway or something similar (only have basic understanding of trainers/CE myself). I was more talking about the different ways you go about having a certain feature work though, just like you were playing around with the infinite health code just now.

And gratz to you for doing so....my intentions was not meant to rock the slay or anything and I applaud you for doing this on your own......The only reason I signed up to CH was because I trust there trainers not to have any viruses in them (Not saying yours does) but its one of those "Each to there own" moments, I would prefer to get programs like trainers from a reputable source.

 

I've had my fair share of using pointers and ASM when hacking Warframe in it's early days. Then they included server checks, which, even if you managed to get anything done, they detected value changes, so that was kind of a short ride.

I'll just abuse you instead if I ever need a trainer for Starbound, hehe.

 

Oh yeah, I can definitely see how getting trainers from CH lets you know they're of a good quality, I just took issue with you acting like mine was just a knockoff or something when they're unofficial too.

I post the tables and scripts for things on the CE forums, and sometimes people update each other's tables there, so the CE forums are actually an excellent resource (which was surprising to me since many official forums for things like this are rather bare).

I used it in single player and it worked like a charm but then when i went to try and connect back to my friends Ip to play with him, it said "The server you are trying to connect to is running a older version" does that have anything to do with me using the trainer? i guess what im asking is can i use it online with friends aswell as single player?

 

It means the server is running on an older version of starbound as you are. Pretty much exactly what it says..

 

Yeah i understand its pretty obvious lol but it just made me wonder because I literally was playing with them online then i seen the trainer and downloaded it tested it out on single player then tryed to go back in it and it then said that. so i didnt know if it was the trainer or just happen to update without me knowing :S so just for my dumb sake.. it works both ways?

 

Thank you for the freeze HP option. While hte mercy fix was great, it was a tad annoying to have because it made a lot of things flicker like nuts while it was running.

Definitely helps with getting some of those rarer materials though, since you only need a couple and you'll be set for a good LONG while.

 

Cheathappens has been a crap-shoot for years, half their trainers are released at game-start and they just re-release it without changing it whenever the game updates so they don't even work anymore. The other half of the trainers, of course, work well, but that's not enough to make the site respectable in my opinion, much less pay for even the legitimate trainers. The proper trainer coders could easily break off and make more money by not being affiliated with the site, and honestly probably even more by making it free with a donation option - lots of people appreciate honest work, after all. Having a guy on my friends list who is a member of cheathappens even now has told me that their starbound trainer works but causes the game to crash every time he shuts it down (compared to the roughly one in ten times it normally does this), and it's actually cost him 2 characters. If it weren't for the trainer being able to make progression easy to get back to spot, that'd be infuriating as all hell.

Not that I mean to slander the site (at least not heavily), half of it does work properly after all. And if you've had good luck (as you say you have), then by all means continue using them. I just don't trust them, personally.

 

I don't doubt your friend has had his issues with there trainers, but myself being a member since 2008 I have had no issues at all....and the current trainer available from them for SB works just fine for me and does not crash the game at all.

Every pc setup is different and what will work on one persons pc might not necessarily work on someone else's, for example I am only running an acer intel core i3 2.3GHz laptop with Intel HD graphics 3000 128mb dedicated graphics (which by the way SUCKS!!) so as you can imagine I cant play a lot of the most popular games, This is only recent though I did have a desktop at one point and I could play quite a lot of games and all the trainers I used for that setup worked just fine as well.

I guess everyone's experience is different with lots of games and websites and I may have been quite lucky with my trainers I have had off of them, either way my experience has been fine and I consider them to be a reputable source for my trainers and that's why I keep using them, It does not matter how many people have lambasted them about there trainers or service my experience has been good and I shall carry on using them.

You know this its cheating, and yet i have to say, youre a genius, now we need a way to spawn materials

Intel HD isn't dedicated graphics, it's integrated graphics. Intel does not make actual graphics cards, only chipsets (which, as you've found, are nowhere near as good for gaming as dedicated cards). Integrated cards suck for gaming, but they're acceptable for almost everything else and they're much cheaper, smaller, and use less power so they're used in most machines by default and a dedicated card is only included in a prebuilt machine when it's meant to be a gaming machine. This is because it needs the company to make the computer at least a certain size to fit the card (so the laptop is bulkier which a lot of people don't like), they need to include a motherboard with the right expansion slot and the right room/form to hold it, and they need to include a more powerful PSU (and for a laptop, the cooling system needs more work) in addition to actually including the graphics card as well, so they rarely bother to put a dedicated card in unless...

1. The machine is specifically being sold as a gaming machine, but when they do this they usually include a bunch of other crap and fancy it up to further mark the price up.
2. You're using the company's customization option on the website to order a customized machine, there you can generally have them include a dedicated card.

So most laptops you see in stores like Best Buy and Walmart and junk aren't for gaming, they're meant to be cheap laptops for the average person that won't stress them.



ANYWAYS my beef with CH is that...

• They used to claim that only certain trainers would need membership and others would be free. This wasn't a bad idea, they could release normal trainers with a few useful options (the basic like infinite health and junk), then work more on trainers with a ton of options that people could pay for to help support them (and these special trainers would include fancier things like teleporting and walk through walls). This gives people their basic trainers for free while allowing people who pay to support the devs get a bunch of cool extras. This is partially where their initial support game from, because this was a nice idea.
  
  
• Well apparently that wasn't making enough money for them, so what they started doing was to make every trainer for the most recent update/patch of the game paid (that is, the one you'd get off Steam, GoG, Desura, Origin, etc.) and only the older/unpatched versions of the game are free (which you can't get if the game is through Steam or you bought an already-patched copy like later print of the game), which often don't fully work if your game is updated.

  Notice how this is just older games (like the first Borderlands). Only the latest trainers are paid, the older ones are free... but the older ones often don't work fully (and of course don't have the updated options) if your game is on Steam or bought later and thus updated.

• Oh hey, guess what. I guess even that wasn't making enough money for them! So they started introducing a policy that if a game gets over 20 updates, then it'll start only being available to people that purchase the lifetime membership [source]. Lifetime membership is $84.95.
  
  
• Oh and hey, did I mention that their newer trainers have DRM to make sure that your account is still valid? If your membership runs out or you get your account banned, the trainers stop working. Their FAQ mentions the multiple ways the trainers could get disabled for you and what the DRM does.

CH keeps changing their policies and increasing the percentage of content they charge for, and wants $84.95 for DRM'd trainers.

Hahaha, no. That's why I just started making my own to distribute freely.

 

Unless there's a console-type thing for spawning commands that I can enable*, I and others are just waiting for inventory editors or server software mods.

* - Borderlands 2 had console commands disabled by prepending "say" to all of the commands, making them just be spoken instead of executed, but somebody pointed out that the "say" string could be removed in RAM, re-enabling the commands.

Just tried it when I read this, works for me still. Make sure you don't have a crashed starbound_opengl.exe hanging around in the background, sometimes Starbound doesn't actually go away after it crashes, and the trainer attaches to the first one it finds.

 

then how it worked on the pre release streams? they actuall spawned set of materials O3O... but atleast can use it to have infinite materials, like creating a wood wall and then cuting it so i have double of before )

 

I hope this doesn't come over as shameless advertising, because that really isn't the intention, but the mod I'm making adds a box right now adding all items in the /items/ folder, and I'm working on including the /objects/ folder as well. It's not an elegant solution at all,
but it might cross the gap from now until save editors and spawn commands are in the game.
