Seven people sat there. Quiet. Unmoving. On the brink of death, but never dieing.

Thousands of years ago, the seven people that sat there had done the biggest crime against humanity to ever occur. Millions had died, and even more were permanently injured. Their motives were unknown, and their actions were from Hell itself. Eventually, heroes were born from the rubble and ashes of the Seven, and they single-handedly defeated them.

While the Seven were in their weakened state, the heroes that had defeated them had created a massive monument and prison; Runeskar. It was easily the most colossal and impressive man-made creation of the time. Thousands had worked on the giant tower, and hundreds had died trying, all to make certain that the Seven would never see the light of day ever again for their hiddeous deeds.
When the tower was finished, it took a little under a week of straight transport to the very top. When there, the Seven were bound by chains enchanted so that they were unbreakable to every magic and force known to them.

After they were chained like the dogs they were, a ceremony was held to cast the most dangerous and powerful magic on them imaginable. The Seven were granted immortality.

Runeskar would serve as a prison not only for the Seven, but the lesser floors would be occupied by the most horrible monsters and criminals they could find, to make sure that no one would attempt to free the Seven. After the tower was full, they sealed the door, and left. The Seven were finally dealt with.

    . . .

It was not long until hunger and dehydration took their toll on the Seven. Theyre stomachs and mouth were cursed with a never-ending pain from it. Then, soon after, the bugs started to cause insanity. Maybe they were bugs, maybe it was just the complete darkness tricking them.

After 50 years in the Runeskar, they did not age a single second from the point their immortality was casted, but they still felt the same pain from the beginning. Many of them had stopped talking to eachother, and some had even started to talk to themselves. Their throats and body were encased with blisters that they could not scratch, and bugs began to make their nests near, or even on them.

After the first couple of hundred years, none of them could talk. Dust was beginning to pile up inside of their lungs. Most of their teeth had rotted out, and their eyes were swollen shut. However, they did not die, and they could still feel the pain from the very beginning. The worst part was, they could not beg for forgiveness for their inhumane sin they created all that time ago, because none of them remembered it.

Now, a thousand years later, the Seven people sat there. Quiet. Unmoving. Living husks of what once was a person. So very close to the sweet release of death, but so very far at the same time. The pain had never numbed.

That is, until one day, a figure appeared in their room.

The tiniest speck of light was so foreign that it almost immediately blinded them all.

They did not move. Then, it spoke to them.

The tiniest speck of sound was so foreign that it almost immediately deafened them all.

The figure spoke in their mind, to their soul. He promised for the chains to be broken, and for their bodies to be rejuvinated. Most of all, he promised the very, very faint grasp of freedom. As long as when, or if they escaped, they would serve him for eternity.

The tiniest speck of hope was so powerful, that it almost immediately made them all think the same word; " Yes. "

And just like that, the chains snapped. Their bodies were cleansed of the dust, the hundred cuts, bruises, and blisters. They could breathe, hear, smell, and see, for the first time in one thousand years! They were alive again.

After they were free, oh so finally free, one last thing was cast upon them. Each one of the seven had a rune etched into their skin on their torso, with unimaginable pain. It would have killed any normal person, but they were still immortal. The Seven had then fainted from the excruciating process.

    When they regained their conconsiousness, they all hugged and welcomed eachother back from the dead. The figure was missing from where he was. They all vowed never to speak of the thousand years they were in eternal purgatory; the memories were almost like a black cloud of torture in their mind. When they were finished, they all saw the same thing: for the first time, the door was opened, and a dim light of a torch beyond the room revealed the most awesome thing they had seen in their entire life;

    Down.

Welcome to Runeskar, an dungeon crawler where you must traverse the seemingly infinite floors in order to try to reclaim your freedom. This roleplay is trying to reach that classic "bare-bones, DnD classic dungeon exploring" feel. Each player has a certain rune added onto them that corresponds to a class. The only way to figure out your secret power is for the secret action to be performed. (Hint hint: they're all activated the same way)

My role is to set out the layout of the different rooms / floors whenever one is entered. To keep track of things, I will post a picture of each floor and room as it's being discovered. Players will be able to traverse to a pervious room/floor. I will also be charged with removing players if they want to be removed, or if I must remove them.

    RULES
    1. Follow all basic roleplaying rules.
    2. You may be immortal, but you still feel all pain. Overbearing pain will make you faint for a period of time.
    3. Never go out of character in the IC thread.
    4. Try not to swear like a sailor, and keep sexual stuff out of this.
    5. If you want to leave the roleplay, tell me and I'll come up with something clever.
    6. The layout and contents of a room is and only is decided by the GM.
    7. Always notify when you will log off after roleplaying.

*When a person is offline, they are sleeping in the roleplay. Players can still investigate the floor, but cannot go up or down onto a different one.
    8. No one sentence posts; that being said, don't advance the story two pages.
    9. Have some fun! Roleplaying is useless if you don't like it.
