RP Ideas/Stories: Whats yours going to be like?

I'm just wondering what other peoples RP stories are going to be like. I'm an RP'er so I'm always happy to learn about others RP!

Mine: (Only Ideas)
1.An Apex whose mind has gone haywire and thinks he is the King of Space Bunnies.
2.A Researcher who gets stranded on a planet and attempts to survive there.
3.A Archaeologist who goes to far underground and becomes a crazy hermit/Smeagol-like person who steals from people who come underground, kills them, or etc.
4.A long stranded Human/Novakid who becomes "One with Nature".

Let me hear yours or maybe comments on mine or others!
Edit: I've actually been thinking about a Glitch named Sir Ralmos, who's duty is to protect the kingdom's Princess at all times. His last memory was a few seconds of a attack upon the royal castle. He wakes up probably around a 1000 years later thinking its the aftermath of the fight. His old memories are mostly fried and thinks that the first female he sees is the princess.

 

I don't rp much anymore but I do like to follow themes when building structures and dressing characters. I like to play as a solo entrepreneur gathering and transporting materials and wares for a fee. Think Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, Han Solo or whatever - the allure to this playstyle came from playing Wing Commanders Privateer. Good game that one.

 

I like to follow themes, I just usually jump outside the box if your characters race, class, etc if the backstory creates a overused RP idea. Your idea is pretty good, I can see it fitting into alot of RP's. As of Wing Commanders Privateer, I've never actually heard about it. I'll have to look it up!

 

I really don't rp, the closest to rp I do is make jokes about the characters and the game mechanics like some lpers do.

 

My story..A normal bald human exploring Starbound? I do want to make a decent tier 1 base on my first world and try collecting as many crops as possible, get seed stock so I can farm my own food. Try to get a source of fuel for the ship ASAP, not sure if it's mined, grown, however you get it I want to produce plenty. Stock up on ammo if needed for guns (I want slug-throwers, good classic rifles and carbines) and then after that I will explore the next planet.

 

A human desperately seeking a means to modify his body with nanotechnology to the point where he is, for all intents and purposes, a god. As I play through the game and gather tech and such my character will get closer to his goal and become gradually more detached from mortal beings. He will eventually develop a small society comprised of his "chosen". The chosen will of course be selected by a set of criteria.

• They need to be human: All other humanoids will be rejected with varying degrees of prejudice. In order to keep control over his civilization he needs to create an enemy which embodies a source of disgust. As such, he will select the Apex as this enemy. He will convince his people that the Apex are demons that which to drag them back to their primitive roots, beings that were once like us but then chose the path of evil. This enemy, coupled with his apparent godlike capabilities and immortality will convince his people that he is the God of men and will raise them to his status.
• They need to be loyal: Any hint of disloyalty and my character will eliminate the citizen. If someone attempts to explain his powers other than "divine will", treats Apex with kindness or allows any other species into their home for example, they will be taken and killed by his Archangels, men and women that he has given "divine powers" through his acquired technology.
• They must kill at least one Apex: A rite of passage would be enforced, in which one they reach a certain age, they are tasked with killing a captive Apex. If they refuse, they are taken, if they oblige, they are accepted as an adult in the society.

Not a long list but you get the picture. As time goes by he'll "raise" people using his technology until they all have some level of power that they don't understand, and proceed to spread out into the Universe, slaughtering any and all Apex and enslaving all other species. Eventually he will leave his empire to fend for itself to determine its strength, he will designate "Prophetic Angels" who know the truth of their powers to rule over the Empire and watch it from afar. If the Empire were to crumble in his absence he would return and raise it once more, if it succeeds, he would re enter the populace once they have forgotten his face and simply watch over his people.
I feel like that would be a fun character to RP.

 

Definitively a Hylotl/Novakid mercenary who doesn't need a house but only his spaceship to be happy...and money, of course

 

Whether I take RPing seriously with Starbound will depend on whether the game proves to be a suitable environment for creative roleplaying.

A Game Master needs to have the right tools available to him in order to make it fun.

To be fun, role playing should be taken somewhat seriously, not as an opportunity to make an ass out of yourself in a group setting. At least that's how I feel about it.

That's sounds pretty awesome, probably quite fun to play, I'll just have to keep out of your server in fear of being hunted down or it would be quite fun to roleplay the Apex resistance

 

A flaming human who likes to blog and is overall a pacifist because fighting and oppression is wrong. He doesn't usually explore though, he just puts up donation pools on his website for money goading people into believing his sob story so he can actually just pay the ship maintenance and buy personal wigs. He also hates Cis scum and won't have any of them on his ship as they are privileged oppressors. His ship's bumper sticker says thin privilege!

Just kidding, I'm gonna be a guy who kills shit.

 

Hmmm, I don't normally Role play, but I'm going to start with StarBound.
Mine will probably be... A Crazed Evilutionary Scientist who not only kills those who's genetics aren't good enough and experiment on crops and animals to make a mutant monster!
Or a semi peaceful farmer who snaps and develops world destroying tech, due to the fact florians ate his family in a soup and using their sharpened bones for toothpicks
and/or sticks for skewering meat.
I think I may have a problem...

 

I was very close to writing a Fanfic about a female Human gun-for-hire who slept with her employer. After some emotional drama, she leaves the ship on a transport just prior to the devastating attack on her home world by the tentacle things, which she believes has also resulted in the deaths of her former crew mates. Seeking out a new home, she encounters various struggles while making some new and interesting friends and eventually reuniting with her lost crew.

The outline for the story includes bios for eight characters so far, one female of each race and one male human so far. I could easily role play as any of them.

 

Right ... the recovering Cannibal turned Vegan who is seeking to terraform a new world into his ultimate utopia, a planet of Flesh-Eating Plants.

I want to play as a Scientist, who is exploring the universe and building research stations on remote planets. Only uses a pistol and maybe a knife in melee and has several NPC companions (if that is still going to be in the game)

 

A Flora seeking company of others after a long hibernation and wandering.

 

Each of my characters will have their own story.

• My Glitch will just be your standard 'insane' Glitch, chased from her homeworld. Self-questioning and knowledge-gathering protocols will take up most her time, as she spends her time trying to figure out where she fits in the universe. Very much a "coming of age" and "self discovery" story.
• My Floran will be many things. Quirky, bubbly, loving (in every sense of the word), rash, excentric, unpredictable.. And that's just a few that begin to describe her. Her main goal is to explore, and see everything that she can possibly see.
• My Hylotl is a mercenary/assassin. Think of Zaeed Massani from Mass Effect 2. She's usually a loner, but is willing to carry the extra baggage of 'inexperienced newbies' once and a while if the long-term is worth it.

 

my plans for my RP are simple. my human character is an advance scout, sent out to build outposts that can later be turned into full colonies. he has a "shoot all egg shaped objects" policy in place, and if there are too many enemies, well, Aliens said it best. They shall be nuked from orbit, it's the only way to be sure!

 

Trying to convince someone to roleplay with me as a smuggler duo. Details to be fleshed out upon her answer.

 

I'm hearing some good RP ideas out here!
I just hope someone will start a RP server when Starbound comes out.
