Role Playing?

Wondering if anyone gave their character a distinct story like I did. I liked the idea of not just playing but having the whole experience. Thoughts?

 

I never use the default character back stories

 

neither do I. I only picked the parts of the back story that I wanted. Like thee brainwashing part(I'm apex) I took that and incorporated that into my story

 

Me and my friend pretend to be mad scientist with some of the stuff we do.

 

I make up my characters back story in my head. No hard facts or details, but i sometimes have a general idea of who they were, what their ideals are.

It helps in immersing myself in the game play a bit. If the character was a gifted warrior, it justifies his skill with weapons. Sometimes the characters back story plays out in my mind while i play. like "yeah, he mustve always been a baddass back on his home planet" or "he never took shit from anyone on his home planet, these rogues have to die"

 

I'm not really gonna be big on the whole RP aspect until we hit release.

I told a friend I wanted to make a type of character that would be traveling the galaxy, making things for other people. We concluded the title for my char be:
Intergalactic Entrepreneurial Fabricator Doragon Keiyou
Man, if they never remove the character limit in names, I will rock this name and travel the galaxy making objects for others. And by others, I mean other players.

 

I like to carry over my characters from different games and act those out. Waiting for the novakids so I can roleplay my favorite character.

 

I end up with a backstory for almost every character I make, and I love the Floran so much that I had to for thiss game as well.

 

I don't know any RP servers, or I would totally go for it.

 

I believe Madcactuslover's avatar portrays my feelings towards your race quite well.

 

Floran doesssn't care about meat perssson opinion.

 

There's a couple floating around the server board, Ghostar. Right now I'm looking into Serenity. There's also Unbound Travels, but that's a hardcore "you die, you reapply" server, which is kinda lame, since any old mob or cranky player can destroy all your progress on the server.

I always like to RP in a game if I can. I've been on the RP servers of every MMORPG I've played that had them. This game will be no exception.

 

Well... I don't know if this count as roleplaying...

1) I avoid violence at all costs - I don't harm pacifist creatures.

2) My character is vegetarian... I have a fairly big farm in my home planet.

Other than these 2 things, I don't think there's much roleplaying in my playthrough.


PS: How would someone roleplay as Human anyway? (which is the race I usually play)

 

That's because floran can't comprehend logic and all their technological advancement is stolen.

 

Meat perssson taste just asss good killed with ssstolen weaponsss. Floran doesssn't need to make them.

id like to see a sort of system where you can type on your characters own backstory.
ive never really played world of warcraft, but from what ive seen thats what the roleplay servers they have are like.
type in your characters backstory for others to view and you can all roleplay together.

 

The only reason WoW has things like that is modding
Starbounds moddable, so we might get similar mods here, but It would probably make servers incompatible to people not using the mod, which would suck.
