Rogue Sapling

I have but one question: What the heck is this pink death seed thing? When I replanted saplings around this rogue seed, they disappeared, leaving behind this unsettling death bulb

 

That... is a very interesting question, actually. What the hell is that thing?

I believe your sapling is a carrot, and it has been planted in the wrong environment and died.

 

It's a creepy seed, it's sole purpose is to kill off wild-life.

It's also a wonderful ingredient for "creepypasta".
(I have never seen this before IMO)

 

Where did you find it, or get it from?

 

What are your coords? I need that thing. I have never seen it before. I also really need those trees.

You don't need to till the soil to plant tree saplings, btw. Could it be something related to that (the soil being tilled)?

 

Possibly, but I've been playing Starbound since the public beta came out, and I've always tilled the ground when I plant seeds. I've been working on creating a giant tree house that requires 10,000+ unrefined tree blocks, so I've planted hundreds of trees, and this didn't happen until recently, so I doubt it

 

I looked it up in the files, and it's real. Apparently that happens when your tree fails to grow!

 

That makes some sense

 

now the question is what causes the tree to fail to grow!

 

Lovely, I am trying to have a vast collection of saplings to bring back to my eventual futuristic greenhouse. It will house all sorts of plants, crops, etc. but imagine the fecal tons of glass I would need. And pixels if I am going to buy the blocks to build with.

 

Sand is plentiful and quick to mine, you should be okay

 

But the hassle of digging underground. Luckily I found a savannah with decent amounts of find sand. Mostly I find sandstone for my brick ziggarut.
