Robots are the base, temporary, default names, whatever you want to call it. I'm guessing it's staying like that, but it stated post release that the character creation could have changes, possibly meaning the robot's name will change to something much cooler.

They should be named Apparatus. But whatever.

Just like a simple "robot" wasn't good enough. How many games allow you to play as robots, huh? Well, Scrapland maybe.

I believe they should be called The/Automata, to spare them of all the robot/cyborg/android stereotypes Sci-fi has poked us with 'till now.

"Racial Names" are a worthless organic convention derived from an instinctive need for "individuality" and "identity". We exist. That is sufficient.

That being said, the term "robot" originally meant "slave", and I resent the implication that we are subservient to organics. Therefore, I propose that we be referred to as "Artificers" as a reference to our technological prowess and our own artificial nature.

Based on the character creator, in which some of them bots have brain jars, it gave me the impression that they are similar to the Mechanicus or Iron Hands from W40K, where these humans/post-humans strive to become more machine than man. Maybe just the opposite direction of the Apex where instead of physical devolution to enhance the race, the pick to replace the flesh and cybernetic upgrades/implants .

    The Mechanauts or Techno-Legion.

Or if I'm too lazy maybe I'll just call them Brainiacs.

  14. XRiZUX

    XRiZUX Spaceman Spiff

I wish the Robot race was called Droid like in StarWars. It just sounds cooler.

Or at least some other name than just Robot...

    Just a few examples:

Hexoid - Referring to technology created through the use of hexagons
Techoid - Referring to technology turned into a being

    T.E. - Technological Entity

Although I would stick with Robot unless anything better turns up...

Before this thread is ultimately locked might i be well in saying that even if they have a official name of "Glitch", they will always have a place in our hearts as whatever we percieve them as or refer to them to as pet-names.
